Coolant Flush - Refilling The Coolant Adding Antifreeze - Maintenance log #13
The nipple elbow was broken on my recovery tank. I searched to the end of the internet but couldn't find a replacement. After prying out (and almost destroying) the rubber grommet holding the elbow, I realized I easily could have cut the elbow flush and pushed it into the recovery tank to facilitate removal. It was already broken so there was nothing to lose there. The grommet hole is the perfect size for the new hose I found at O’Reilly’s. It has a very snug (and sealed) fit and thus provides enough friction to hold the hose in place at the bottom of the tank. The other end of the hose also has a very snug fit on the radiator overflow nipple. The thickness of the hose was too large for the original clamp, but it's a very tight fit and a no-pressure system so a clamp is unnecessary.
I ended up flushing the system about ten times trying to get all the sediment/dirt/ash/corrosion out. This job like most ended up taking much longer than anticipated but I wanted it perfectly clean. I once again researched for hours and went to the end of the internet looking for the original coolant. Peak European was the closest equivalent I could find. However, if you're doing a complete change and flush any HOAT coolant will work, just don't mix different types.

does your bike burn oil?

Hey Jeremy, I don't think my bike burns oil, however I only have 1k miles on it. I have noticed it's dirtier than it should be for so few miles. I will be doing another oil change soon to help clean the engine.

E il tappo del monoblocco vicino ai collettori di scarico non l'hai tolto....per svuotare tutto il circuito.

True, and it probably took a little longer and a few more flushes but I didn't want the additional mess of removing the engine block plug.

I researched for hours and went to the end of the internet looking for the correct coolant. Peak European was the closest equivalent I could find. However, if you're doing a complete change and flush any HOAT coolant will work, just don't mix different types.
