Always like episodes of Naked Archeologist. The only thing I found left out is that Lilith's earliest references do not include baby killing. That was attributed to Lamashtu (another Mesopotamian Goddess/Demon). They seem to have been syncretized as time went on. Good content as always.

Never heard him mention that the reason the ancients might have considered Lilith a demon was because she was NOT submissive, not even to god. And the men of the time totally wanted their women to be submissive to their husbands and god and so they literally demonized Lilith and blamed her for the high rate of infant mortality (better than blaming god right?). God is spirit. He has no carnal form. When it says in Genesis 1:27 that Adam and Eve were created in the image of God _(“… male and female created he them.”)_ it means that he created spirit within them. Created in the image of God doesn’t mean that their physical form looked like God’s physical form because God has no physical form. It means that they were created as spiritual beings. When Adam deliberately disobeyed God he lost his spirit. That’s what it meant in Genesis 2:17 when it said _”In the day that Thou eatest thereof, thou shalt surely die.”_ The instant Adam disobeyed, he lost the part of him that was created in the image of God. That’s why God promised a redeemer. That redeemer was Jesus Christ. He made it possible for man to once again have spirit and be in the image of God. The fall of man was catastrophic. The serpent promised knowledge. That sounds good right? Who doesn’t want more knowledge? But what knowledge did the serpent deliver? He promised a knowledge of good and _evil_ were they lacking in a knowledge of good? *_NO!_* The only knowledge they lacked was a knowledge of evil. They could have done without that. Many people blame Eve but she was beguiled. Adam knew what he was doing. That’s why Adam, rather than Eve is responsible for the fall of mankind.

Lilith came from Lilitu came from LILLU or may relate back to NinLIL (who, like Ishtar, was portrayed as a wild cow where the universe began for the Jews and their new religion back in about 4,000 BC). Ninlil was also the wife of EL/Asher. Like other characters of the Alphabet, it seems to relate to a place in the heavens (see the Wadi el Hol alphabet and its Shepherd's Crook, possibly Orion, next to the Cow/Taurus). The double entendre of that wild cow drawing is that it also shows a Tree of Life with Seed or Eye of God or Virgo Diamond associated with Scutum in it (portraying the next Creation). The rabbinate picked up many ideas from ancient literature such as Babylonian, Sumerian, Akkadian, Egyptian, etc. What's highly unusual for the Burney Relief at Oxford is that it portrays a period to either side of Aquarius we are entering next year. The Owl of the Ancients (Aquarius) is holding up an ellipse of Jupiter and an ellipse of Saturn. Think Apocalypse 2022. The portrayal of a Goddess holding two "mirrors" goes back thousands of years in Syria and Mexico. If Sophia is related to Ishtar/Lilith, it's because Wisdom is universal.

A really good archaeologist and historian knows that the Lillith myth was created during the Middle Ages by a rabbi who, contrary to the traditional and accepted way of reading Genesis chapter 1, read a second creation narrative into the text. Into this narrative, he wrote a mythical (completely made up story) about a first wife of Adam for which he appropriated the name Lillith, an obscure word used in the Bible in a couple of places and translated in a variety of ways from Screech Owl to a night demon. Prior to this flight of fancy by a Medieval rabbi, there was no record of Adam having more than one wife named Eve, nor was there any evidence of the name Lillith anywhere in connection with Adam or his lineage. The whole story was made up at least 1000 years after the Hebrew texts were written down and breaks the rules of literary interpretation.

It represents The Devil. Formerly known as Lucifer, The Angel of Light. An Archangel who rebelled against God and made himself God’s Archenemy. The Destroyer who is at odds with The Creator. Lilith is folklore, stories made up to distract from and obfuscate The Truth in the Word of God. I work with an artists who came from a very devout Jewish family. She soon abandoned the most devout of practices and now, works as an artist (watercolor) and teacher. The is married to a (sort of) Christian and has a very bright 7 year old daughter who she named Lilith. I don't no why she did that but her family tried to do a separate naming ritual which Sabina resisted. I am personally tickled by the turn of events. The Alphabet of ben Sira is a narrative, satirical work written in the middle ages. The text in Isaiah 34:14 refers to a Night Demon - Lilith literally means "Belonging to the Night". Because people tended to die at night time, when it got cold or when men got killed on their way home. It was a wild world, both due to people and animals alike. We forget that superstition existed back in those days too, much more prominently than today. It's really not that hard to discern.

I know her. Lillith. In the Philippines they call her a wok wok. Or Tik Tik. She flies at night looking for pregnant women. Before she flies she separates from her lower torso and flies into homes and tears babies from the womb of women. If you hear the louder wok wok sound it means she is far away. If you hear the softer quieter Tik Tik sound she is very close. I believe to kill her you need to use holy water before she reconnects to her lower torso. So there was a first group of people made in the first chapter of Genesis. Then in second chapter God created Adam and Eve. When Adam and Eve were driven out of Eden, Adam told God that the others would kill them. Doesn't that mean the first people that were created would kill them? Now Adam and Eve come out of Eden and have many kids and those kids have kids. The kids go into Egypt which was a full blown city and also meet others from other full cities. So the first cities were made from the first people that were created.

I used to believe the whole bible was nonsense. But I kept at it and understood how, where and when amd even why (to some extent) changes were inserted to make it inconsistent. I will briefly summarize a few points but there are so many more. If you can look at it with what I'm sharing below, you may begin to think differently. Or not. But unhappy to try. Note that I'm not saying it represents some God I the sky with a white beard. I dont share the traditional interpretations 1- in English we use the words Lord and God interchangeably. Not so in the original languages it was written in. And since hebrew was banned for a long time, the original language it was written in was ancient greek. The name Yahweh was inserted even later and the bible was hijacked. Yahweh presents himself as God to Moses yet in the New Testament it says Moses never saw God. This is a contradiction as in Exodus it says Yahweh gave it to him directly. Also Yahweh gives moses in addition to the 10 commandment he also gives Moses 600+ laws which the Hebrews must practice. One of those laws is the law of just recompense which says eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, life for life. Yet jesus said turn the other cheek. Also Jesus's crucifixion negated Yahwehs laws. So theres No way Jesus was the OT god in the flesh or his son because otherwise it would be kingdom divided. Honestly I think the OT god aka Yahweh is satan posing as God. I know this is controversial and it's not a new argument. This is just the tip of the iceberg and only a small argument. But if you identify inconstant details in the bible and instead of saying it's all BS, dive deep and investigate, much is uncovered and a very new perspective is uncovered. It takes work and a desire to find the truth. Or you can just say it's all BS and toss it but then that's just being lazy.

Well-educated people like Erasmus of Rotterdam could read ancient Hebrew, ancient Greek, and ancient Latin, back in the 1400s-1500s. Erasmus was able to compare the ancient scriptures with modern (1400's) versions of the Bible and find errors of translation. Yes, Jesus opposed strict adherence to certain rules in Mosaic law, but there's no place in the New Testament that states that he "negated Yahweh's laws." In fact, Jesus said, "Think not that I am come to destroy the law... I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil" [Matt 5.17] He was a Jew and he wanted to streamline Jewish law, to focus on Yahweh's exhortation to "love thy neighbor as thyself" [19.18]. I like his philosophy, but I think religions are based on childish wishes for a powerful father figure/king/dispenser of justice, who will right all the wrongs that have ever been done to you and make life seem fair in the end. "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" is a good ethic to live by. The world would be better if we would all follow that line of thinking. But ancient religious texts (the Bible, the gospels, the Qur'an) are human creations containing a lot of b.s., in my opinion.

Blue blood was a folk tradition that noble men and women had blue blood instead of red. Probably related to the monopolisation of the blue or purple by the upper classes. It's called royal blue for a reason.

Hmm. The term blue blood was explained to me as coming from Spain. With Gothic conquerors at the end of the Roman Empire,there were essentially two population groups. Those originals,with darker skin,and fair skinned Germanics. So when they did not work in the sun,as aristocracy,the veins visible under skin showed blue. Hence blue blood. Not sure if Google etc possesses such a story,but I did read this decades ago. Makes as much sense as anything else.

First, he doesn't want to swop positions sometimes to the point that he turns off Lilith, then when caught eating the apple, he blames Eve for it. Not really the Biblical account at all. Eve did not become a temptress. Eve disobeyed GOD, Adam willfully disobeyed GOD. GOD did not let Adam get away with casting the blame on Eve. Throughout the entire Bible the blame is placed on Adam for sin entering the human race. The whole Lilith tale isn't even in the Bible. Have you ever read the Bible for yourself? It is important literature considering the impact of Christianity upon the entire world.

How many times in how many languages has the original form, the Jewish version, been translated, mistranslated by men who were more political than religious? Dozens is the answer. It is like the old story where the first person telling the story and the person at the end, have totally different versions. In one of the European museums, I saw several early Bibles in which Adam and Eve were portrayed in the garden, they both had the genitalia of hermaphrodites (both male and female). Somewhere along the line, someone removed those depictions in further copies, censoring previously held beliefs.
