Glad it could help. The velcro routing is confusing at first, but once it is setup you can just leave it and forget about it.

I have this bag on my back. The mounting system is genius and fits all my tools, spares, and some extra stuff. Also, my pump fits around the additional straps outside.

It’s possible to get the two small rail wing Velcro straps much tighter on the saddle rails, yours are too loose. When properly attached the bag doesn’t move at all, even with the large outer Velcro strap fully loosened, and the bag fully packed.

does the velcro cause scratches on railings?

I haven't noticed any yet. The only time I've seen saddlebags cause scratches or starting rubbing paint of saddle rails is with heavier bags swaying and long term use.
