I enjoyed watching Gunsmoke for many years. The show was so good, you didn't care about his personal life. He was excellent in his role as Marshall Matt Dillion. He and his brother Peter Graves were great actors, I enjoyed Mission Impossible as well. Both series were well made with excellent acting by all on these series. Excellent television.

I’m 70 and I watch Gunsmoke all the time. I absolutely love it. I remember watching Gunsmoke as a child with my parents. I have Roku. So I watch it on many streaming platforms. Which it allows me to binge on it. I loved Festus, Chester and Doc. Oh and you can’t forget Miss Kitty. They all just made the show. I love the fact that there is no cussing. It’s just a good old family friendly show. I can’t stand the filth that is on the television screen now days.

That’s not true, there was never a ‘riff’ between James and John. John understood exactly the commitments James had with his studio career and family. John didn’t want to make things more stressful on James and more complicated with Mr Stone. And John knew James was dealing some physical challenges.

My Grandmother, who died at age 102, watched Gunsmoke since day one. My Aunt recorded reruns up until her death.. That was the only show she would watch. She would not watch anything else because of language or too racey. I always felt she had a crush on Matt Dillion. When I stayed with her I would watch the reruns with her and fast forward the advertisements. My Grandmother was a Lovely, lovely Southern Lady. Matt Dillion, Gunsmoke, kept her entertained for most of her life!

Wow never knew or heard anything about this .and I thought I kept up with pop culture .which Gun Smoke most definitely had a cult like following all through its life in syndicated television reruns .my father being a couple years older than James was a big time fan of westerns in general but Gunsmoke and John Wayne movies were his favorite .along with the Rifleman and several of the Clint Eastwood spaghetti movies as they were later called due to their cheaply made in South America if I'm not mistaken .they would use all foreign locals as extras and even sometimes co-staring roles where they would do overdubs vocals like in all the Bruce Lee movies both simular in nature as being so cheaply made with the only real lare acting salaries they had to worry about was the main character like Clint Eastwood .those spaghetti westerns made a fortune in syndication and home videos when in fact they were some of the least expensive movies ever made comparable in cost to generic low budget films

Ironically, Chester was the one with a bad leg in the series. But in real life, Dennis Weaver almost made the Olympics as a track star. I guess they gave Chester a bum leg to distract from Arness - who really did have one.

Is this a story about James Arness, Peter Graves, or Joseph Cotton? Do you not know the difference? As well, the computer-generated voice can't seem to pronounce "Arness". A really sloppy presentation, made worse by the non-human narration. Did you find it necessary to state that James Arness had a "unique connection to Gunsmoke"??? Who would have guessed. Mr. Arness certainly deserves much better than this incredibly careless "production".
