I have driven on all continents of the world. I did a Euro Tour with my car in 2011, crossing 12 countries. I also raced a lot of cars on tracks everywhere in Europe. But the most beauty in driving, the most joy I ever feeled, was in Italy. Italy is such a beautiful country. Empty mountain passes, long history, so many nice villages and cities left over from the renaissance era. Italians are passionate about cars, coffee and food. This year I went from Germany to Switzerland, crossing Furka-Pass and going to Turini, from there over the french alpine mountains (Route des Grandes Alpes), to San Remo, Portofino, Montiriggioni, Siena, San Marino, Maranello, Modena, Venezia, Bardolino, Bormio, Stelvio - all driven on b-roads (no Autostrada) with the roof down of my Abarth 124 down. :-) Even the Carabinieri told me to go fast. :)

Ando Vermeulen Moreover, this video depicts all the passion I have for driving and cars. Some people look at my BMW 318ci and laugh at how much I adore my car and mock me about how I’m easily smoked on the lights or how my 0-100 is pathetic. But I ignore them completely because there comes a time where I’m all alone on a mountain road with my perfectly balanced RWD little sports car, fitted with sticky performance tyres, and I put all my heart into doing the perfect shifts, hitting every apex and going out of a bend with just the right amount of revs so the descrete rumble from under the bonnet can make me eargasm. There’s no explanation for it and it’s pointless to explain it to normal people and even petrolheads that are all about tuning shitty cars so they can brag about some meaningless figures.

This is why I think Italian cars are the best... some of them may not be reliable ... some may fall a bit short on onboard tech.. some may cost a bit too much for what they are... but.. from a car enthusiast point of view .. and from someone who has the HONOR to live in the most beautiful country this world has ever witnessed ... I simply think that not any other car brand in the world can give you feeling emotions tears goosebumps ecc like Italian ones.. simply sitting in a Ferrari already makes you break a tear.. because you know you're sitting in a legendary thing... I had the privilege to have a little trip with a friend that bought an Alfa 4c... man.. the sound alone made me smile like nothing else .. a lot of people may disagree but I can say at least for me ... no other sport car beside any Italian one can give you that kind of feeling.. and that's why Italian sport and super cars are doing so well.. they're simple masterpieces on wheels (no saying this because I'm Italian, German Japanese American ecc cars are absolutely amazing as well ... I simply think that they can't make you feel special like Italian cars)

It's true that today any car has the same expected life. Based on my experience, I'd say reliability has become just a myth. All brands are equally now. My grandpa had a lot of out of the box electronic issues with its various Mercedes I had one big out of the box issue with my Abarth Punto (broken diaphragm, entire clutch mechanism had to be changed), for the rest the car was perfect. I have some small out of the box issues with my BMW (HiFi speakers creaking and Front Window ventilation making some noise) I had no issues with my old Mazda 6, except standard things because it was getting old (clutch issues mainly). I had no issues with my Fiat Barchetta (just once the front window sweeper's engine broke but it was REALLY cold, like -5C, so something was frozen). Statistically it's hard to say with such a small sample, but all in all, I'd say no Brand is more reliable than any other. And certainly not nationality. Look at Opel, probably one of the worst company in terms of reliability (on it's Diesel cars at least)

I own a 2016 Giulietta. Whilst its a far cry from this absolute beauty, the care and attention put into it to make every contour, every curve as pretty as possible really does resonate. It may not be the best car on the road, but by God does it put a smile on my face when I take it somewhere with long, winding roads. Alfas do have a heart and soul, one which is so hard to describe but is so intuitive for anyone who's ever driven one. They're all masterpieces of engineering in their own right, and Clarkson perfectly encapsulates the exact feeling I hope to feel one day driving an Alfa built sports car.

This is a prove that cars aren't only about handling, speed and power. Some cars a much more than that, and I'm happy that Jeremy found a perfect way to describe this car. Cause the only thing that matters in life is love - family, friends, things you love can not be explained logicaly. Love is the single thing on Earth that has got no explanation (except of quantum-physics). I want to say BIG thank you to Top Gear and especelly Jeremy Clarkson, for sharing this amazing car. Sure, I don't agree that it's beautiful car in the world, but I agree with Jeremy's feelings. I think that the point of this video wasn't just to review this car, I think that the point of this video was to prove what really matters to us.
@jackshepherdson9 жыл бұрын
+GetMine - SKEpic I could not agree with you more. This car is strangely beautiful, theirs just something about it that separates it from the Bugatti and Koenigsegg crowd. it is what cars are all about. I will say though, with a gated manual transmission (look at the early Lamborghini's) this would be in my opinion the greatest car in 20 years.

The first time I saw this car I immediately thought "Now what the hell is this?" I honestly did not understand it. But as I watch the video again and again, I begin to realize the true meaning of the design. As far as I've deduced, the reason why so many call this car "ugly" even though it actually is a masterpiece is because its unconventional. you never see this kind of design replicated in other cars nowadays making it hard to understand. A good example of this is the line that connects both door handles which passes around the whole front of the car where the wheel arches, the headlights, and the grill all connect. It is one uninterrupted line that you can never see in today's design. You have to approach this car the same way you approach art - remove all your previous notions about what is right and what should be, then you'll realize its true beauty.

This is my most favorite Top Gear segment of all time in terms of single car spots. The cinematography, music and editing is at it's peak here, and Clarkson once again knocks it out of the park with witty analogies and passionate sincerity. Also love how the aspect ratio changes at 3:14 and again at 6:37 to let the audience breathe and admire the car and the scenery surrounding it. Crazy how 10 years later car youtubers are still trying to capture the essence of what made these Top Gear segments so great in the first place.

The article done on this beauty is also very informative. It sheds light on one of the most influential car designers history. BBC blew it in my opinion canning Jeremy Clarkson and therefore letting the Top Gear team slip through their hands. An executive got punched? As I get older and more experienced I have realized something very important. Executives get paid way too much and don't get punched nearly enough. BBC will never be able to recreate the show they brought Jeremy Clarkson on to save. I wish the team much success and look forward to enjoying their next endeavor.
