I used to work for a prestige car dealer which sold new Audi, Porsche and Ferrari vehicles. Occasionally we'd have used Astons, Bentley, Merc, McLaren and Lamborghini for sale also. The staff got used to seeing some pretty cool stuff. Then one day a customer drove an 8C into the middle of the carpark and revved the engine. I shit you not, 4 buildings emptied of staff in a few seconds and crowded the car.

This car isn't a supercar, it's a gran tourer. Same class as the California or the DB9. So yeah, it's slow and can't turn very well, but it sounds and looks so good. Just imagine driving one of these down the Italian Riviera.

Cars today are built like iPhones, in the sense that an iPhone is a beautiful object until the next one comes out and the old one looks fat and bulky, all on an annual cycle. That's why cars like the 8C will stand out so highly in 40 years when we look back on the era of early 21st century cars.

I totally understand this. When I was in college, I was driving to work one afternoon and saw, parked in front of a gas station with a "for sale" sign on its windshield, a car so beautiful I had to stop. It had no engine, and they were asking something like $7,000 for it, and this was in the 60s. It was an outrageous price, but it was so gorgeous, I wanted to buy it, if only to put it in the living room. The next day, the car was gone. The guy at the gas station told me some guy had bought it with the idea of putting a 327 Chevy engine in it. Turned out to be a BMW 507.

I worked in an Alfa Romeo dealership near Knutsford for a few months once. It was a terrible place to work, the culture was coercive and fearful, the job was monotonous and I was glad when I left more than ten years ago. But one day, a white 8C convertible came in. It was being held for a customer who was coming in to collect it. It spent a few days in the show room. A little bit of niceness for a couple of days. It was a lovely looking thing.

They tried to make the car look bad. Anyone who has actually been behind the wheel of an 8C knows that it drives just as good as it looks. It is a very special car to me.

Antrax 1. That was an unsubstantiated rumour when it comes to an engine. 2. Even if it is true, why would Ferrari help a rival, even if they were slower? That would make no sense. 3. Your nationality does not automatically give you more validity. A case could also be made for bias.

Some say that one of the purposes of art is to invoke emotions, so I guess alpha's can be considered art. Even if that emotion is extreme rage because it's broken down on the side of the road or in a mechanical shop more of the time than it has been actually working. So, instead of calling alpha's "shit" one could therefore call them "artistic."

Speaking as an alfa owner . Have an 156 2.0 jts from 2002 and i love it! The way it drives its amazing! Too bad the electrical parts are low quality and break down easily. Buy still worth driving!

I saw one at the 2008 auto Italia car show at Brooklands Museum where my Alfa Romeo 156 was on display . For the start up myself & some mates were standing behind it so heard it rev in full Stereo. What a beautiful sound 😀
