"FASTEST CAR IN THE WORLD" vs Yacht | New Zealand Race | Top Gear

Jeremy and James head to New Zealand to take part in a race from the Coromandel Peninsula to the northern tip of the North Island. James had to cover 220 miles (350 km) in the America's Cup yacht Oracle, whilst Jeremy had a much longer 410 miles (660 km). The Oracle's crew was made up of James, Olympic gold medallist Sir Ben Ainslie and several America's Cup winners. Jeremy's Auris is a rental, thus "the fastest car in the world", and he has little regard for its safety... Taken from Episode 1, Series 20.

For all of the people raging about how "this isn't the fastest car in the world," you obviously do not understand sarcasm. The reason they refer to this little Toyota as the fastest in the world is because it's a rental. It's not a loaner from a car manufacturer, it's not one of the presenter's personal vehicles, it belongs to no one in particular. Therefore, Jeremy can careen through fields and scrape along rock walls without slowing down with few to no consequences.

Actually it belongs to the rental company which in turn has shareholders who invested money to make the company exist and provide a service. Yes, they intend to make a profit, and the way they do that is provide (usually, for a company to be successful) the best service possible. One way to maintain good service is when other people (customers) respect the service offered and behave as responsible customers, otherwise the companies have to hike the rates or go broke (or get taken over by the government sector and have the service and products they had to deal with in the USSR.)

Ambady Anil​ Because a horse can travel ~30 km (actually they used km for misure it) per day. Early settlers traveled by horse along the beach, it took them 3 days, thus they estimated it was _90 Km_ long. After Imperials arrived and they changed sistem and estimated that was 90 _miles_ long, so it's called 90 miles (it should be called 90 Km, or 55 miles) beach, in the Imperial sistem it's 55 miles long, while in the metric sistem it's 90 Km long, Imperials made a mistake to changing it in their sistem only the unite of measure and they did not the same at the number so the name has remained "90 miles beach"

It is. As a sailor, i can tell you that it is a underrated sport. The only sport ive Done that makes you more exhausted is hockey, football for example is a stroll in the park compared to sailing. Lots of tactics, strategies, manouvers, physical work and so on, and great fun. Very expensive and time demanding sport however. The boat seen here looks like a AC45, worth 1 million dollars, and if a crew that doesnt compete on worlds standards, youd propably die in carbon splitter within minutes. The boat i sailed, the 29er (thought to move to the 49er but didnt have time due to school) was about 14k and needed about 20 minutes maintenence for every hour sailed. And the parts and wax an whatever arent cheap either. TL;DR Fun, very physical sport, but expensive and takes a lot of time out of your day.
