Thank you all for listening. Everyone seems more interested in the song than I anticipated, which makes me very happy. I just want to say, this story is taking “TOPHAMHAT-KYO’s” real experiences and exaggerating them. An ordinary man, who got a character to represent him, and becomes famous because of it. But, as time goes on, he realizes that the character is more popular than him. It’s a story about him facing that reality which makes him jealous, suffer, and distressed, leading to the end where the tables have turned completely. In reality, I am not dissatisfied or sad about the current situation. In fact it’s the opposite. This is the happiest things that’s ever happened to me, so I’m ecstatic. I’m just so thankful that you listen to and look at my work. As proof, in the song, at around 2:50~ I sing「Being killed by my own creation For artists, that’s our dream」So it’s not at all a negative song. It’s actually one of the main themes. I’m very thankful for everyone who seemed worried about me, but I wanted to let you know the truth, so I am writing this. Furthermore, I love you all for being so passionate and thinking so deeply about this. It’s made me realize once again, that I’m happy I did this project. Sorry it got long, but thank you all for reading. Please continue to enjoy "Princess♂" and "Mister Jewel Box.” THHK

I know a lot of people are saying "this makes me sad" and "I don't like Princess as much anymore." Just to be clear (and I can only TRULY speak for myself but my conversations with the other 2 have echoed this sentiment)... We all still love Princess! The MV, and the character. Some fantastic things happened because of that song, story and MV. I don't think the intention is to make anyone sad here, or regret the fun they had watching Princess. I hope people can still enjoy both, because hell I know everyone involved in making the song and MV sure do. It's a fun little meta story rooted in some deep and relevant truth. Knowing that, I really hope people can take a step back, not get too too serious, and still enjoy both!

I'm pretty sure it's just a metaphor for "Having your creation outlive even you is the pinnacle of art" ultimately creating a timeless classic, many people would aspire to be likened to Einstein, Van Gogh, or Shakespeare. (I know Einstein isn't art, but he fits the mold of someone who's ideas outlived even their decent human lifetime)
@williamalyabacar74894 жыл бұрын
Me as an artist Hearing this part of the song be like 👁👄👁
I don't think a lot of people seem to understand the meaning of the song and it's honestly very sad. It's about how he's talking about the fame he's recieved since the release of Princess. At first it seems like he sees that he's receiving the fame only for the music he's made. People even mistake him as the character because she's sorta his persona in the internet. But as time passes by, the people start to just only care for the character than the creator/the music maker. Joining the bandwagon just only for "Princess". He eventually starts to question himself if the people truly care for him and his music or just the cutesy character he's made and even to the point of feeling jealousy and bitterness towards his character. And it seems as all this continues all of this growing worse as it seems like he feels like he falls from his high horse to being a nobody yet again because all the fans care about is the character and not the creator. The creation just overwhelms him as he becomes obscure as his creation has become the master. It's the sad reality though. Because nowadays all people seem to care are the characters in the final product than those who worked so hard during the creation of them and it sucks. So please to all fans of well known creators like TopHamHat, DemonDice Karen and other content creators. Please give them more love and appreciation and recognise the efforts they put to create content for y'all. ❤

the thing I love the most about this song is that it’s self-aware to a level that you don’t see in most songs about the creative process. instead of THHK just saying “people only know me from princess and that makes me sad 😢” he’s instead acknowledging that it was his own ego and pride that led him to cling to the attention the song got him. it’s less of a whine and more of a lament, like “I dug this grave and now I have to lie in it.”

I somewhat predicted that THHK was going to make a song about how “Princess” blew up and basically became the only thing most of the people cared about. Really good, but also very sad. I loved Princess and that’s how I discovered THHK. As an artist myself, I did fall in love with the art style and the character of that video. But I always come back to this song because of the singer. I just LOVE how he sings in that song, it’s addicting. I’m a sucker for Electro Swing as well, lol.

but it's not like that's unjustified you know? people like having visual interest to go with music, or just some sort of association. like how kpop is popular because of the group and not the music, or how vocaloid is popular more due to the characters/mascots. of course it's a shame that so much good music is left undiscovered, but the fact is that a consistent visual aesthetic draws fans in more than the music itself. just like how people listen to like, anime openings because it reminds them of the anime.
