Great video! I just wanted to point out something Alison said about the second submission - “because it’s not highly attracted to a magnet, it must be a chondrite, right?” but we know some HEDs, Lunars and other meteorite types that are not highly attracted to a magnet, are not chondrites. I don’t mean to be picky and I know chondrites are the most common type found, but as your channel is such a great source for education - someone might come away from that comment with the wrong idea.

Literally found a rock doing yard work, and that's what's led me here. Trying to figure out if it's a meteorite. Looks rusty but not magnetic. Honestly thought it may be a native American tool, because it has a perfect half sphere recess in the center of it.

@TopherspinMeteorites2 ай бұрын
I'm not sure you actually completed your question there. The word crater means that there was an impact. Impacts happen in space. There are very few impacts upon entry into the Earth's atmosphere. Therefore, they are more than likely regmaglypts rather than craters on a meteorite you're looking at.

hi Topher and crew. Thanks f or the logical and detailed explanation. its a nice feeling to think that you have meteorites but its nicer to know sure and why. and so its better to know when its not .from scientists you dont get this quantity of knowledge. step by step its going on. , the next stone is following . one question: i have seen in some meteorites vesicles ,not much but there are some. is there a rule when they appear?
@TopherspinMeteorites3 ай бұрын
Thanks so much for the great feedback. Yes you are correct The crude does a great job helping on these rock identifications. Vesicles in meteorites usually only appear in melts and in very fresh fusion crust.

@TopherspinMeteorites3 ай бұрын
These specialist geeks that you're talking about are internationally respected experts. Unlike you, we know what we're talking about. There is no way to find a Costa Rican meteorite in your Arizona backyard. Sorry, you're just wrong. So I'd prefer if you would refrain from insulting us, especially when you clearly don't know what you're talking about.

I have a personal problem with Bobby Haag, & Rock'n gem...I have pictures of some of my meteorites on the Meteorite Museum website too..my Agua Zarcos meteorites I found 8 years B4 one crashed into a doghouse in the Bahamas, I'm thinking it's orbit wasn't as close as mine...Agua Zarcos means Water & Forgotten Name, they are Beautiful too. Oh, I do know what I'm talking abo😢 sir...I even have ET fossils that you Don't need microscopes to see like Orthoporoxinites do. I sent a letter to Dr. Robert Hoover in Cincinnati to show some of them but my letter was returned by the college a few years ago B4 he got it...I am able to go into the field & find complete Falls always, not just Finds
@TopherspinMeteorites3 ай бұрын
If you have personal issues with other people, perhaps you shouldn't publish them on my KZbin page for all to see. That's kind of weird. Also this other doctor you're talking about in Cincinnati, I have no idea who that is. Either way, nothing you have to say has anything to do with the video that I work so hard on. If you have a question or a comment about the video I produced here is the form. If you want to go on hypothetically talking about some mud ball you found in your yard that you think is a meteorite, that is for some other platform. I do that on Patreon. Also, let me get this right your claim to fame is you wrote a letter to a famous scientist that no one knows and it was returned to you unread? Impressive!
@jamesschank38333 ай бұрын
I'm not putting down your site, I don't believe those were meteorites either. Dr. Robert Hoover discovered Life off world working for NASA, bacteria. I'm Not trying to get famous, all my pics are as Anonymous... it's just hard to tell by pics as you well know sir. Bobby Haag is in charge of MSS in Tucson & I have people in & around town to bring the is specimens to me to check meteorite or metewrong. No disrespect to you nor your site, but is there a way we can make contact on email or something? I just have a problem with authority figures. I had Tucson check 1 they called Bitnium before they knew about CAIs. I'd really like to show you some that Richard Norton didn't have the chance to decipher the taxonomy of. If it's cool with you. I didn't treat you with any disrespect like you do me...just let me know

two of the three are infact meteorites.i suggest people get them tested.because metalic glass and fused meteorites are totally different then regular meteorites.the metal in them is magnetically weak and they weigh 10 percent less then a regular iron meteorite.and this is fact you can not tell by looking at a picture how much the sample weighs how magnetic it is every thing the rock is composed of and you cant tell weather the structure inside is crystaline or non crystaline.and if you dont know what crystaline and non crystaline structure is look it up.
@TopherspinMeteorites4 ай бұрын
You are 100% wrong. This is not accurate information and I want my viewers to ignore it.
@themessenger40174 ай бұрын
my question is what happens if you people on here say it isnt a meteorite.and the person takes it and has it tested and finds out it is a meteorite.would that make people meteor dumb?
