I normally always agree with Faiz sahab, (because he always provide references and/or logical answers) but here I must disagree... Topi is definitely cultural-sunnah, meaning, wearing it does not guarantee a sawab (reward) from Allah (swt) because for something to be as part of Islam, it would have been a Sunnah related to an islamic ritual.. for example, if Nabi (saw) wore Topi specifically for Namaz/etc then we would classify that as an ibadat. But since he always wore it, then he always rode camels to cover large distances, he always wore garments that are different from what we wear, etc. ALSO.. the fact that we cannot wear Topi during Hajj/Umrah is a proof it is not a part of Islam. Any extra garments were disallowed for ibadat of Hajj and Umrah, if topi was so fundamental for ibadat or respect, that surely in Hajj it would have been made compulsory.
