I used estradiol cream. Long before menopause. I ended up with inflammatory breast cancer stage 3b. I'm freakishly lucky that I survived. I'm cancer free for now. But, I'm also having a full hysterectomy next week because my estrogen is still too high despite being on a hormone blocker. My skin is gorgeous. But, my oncologist told me to stop the estradiol cream before I was fully diagnosed. She made that decision based on the fact that my type of cancer is often effected by estrogen and/or progesterone. How? If you have HER2+ breast cancer, estrogen and progesterone essentially feed the cancer making the cancer more aggressive and grow faster. She's the number 1 medical oncologist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, which is the number 1 treatment center for cancer. Literally. Just an FYI.

I’m no doctor but I wonder if topical estogen would be beneficial as a skincare option specifically for post-menopausal women, where it might be potentially dangerous for pre-menopausal women. Or perhaps phrased differently, the risk due to increased topical estrogen is countered by the natural drop in estrogen from menopause, which makes it less risky for that demographic. Especially given that many women will take estrogen supplements during/post menopause to help with those symptoms, maybe this would be a two birds one stone thing.
@madhu79834 ай бұрын
Yeah I think it's interesting that she phrased it as "estrogen deficiency." Pretty sure estrogen decline is natural as we age which would mean it's not a deficiency and just a natural change right?

I've deep dove on this already and the thing is once you start on topical estradiol you're essentially starting on HRT. There's a certain target estradiol blood level range you want but not too much so this includes blood testing. And if you're postmenopausal with a uterus, then you're going to want to start taking progesterone pills to offset estradiol otherwise you start seeing side effects like bleeding and breast tenderness etc. Consult with an Ob-gyn trained in HRT for this.

I am glad to see at least one other person sounding a warning bell other than me. This doctor is a dermatologist, not a gynecologist or oncologist. I feel like this video is a bit irresponsible. People will watch this and start slathering it all over their face, neck and chest without understanding that the estrogen is absorbed through their skin. Anyone with a history of breast or gynecological cancers, or has risk factors (mother, sisters, grandmothers) who had breast or gynecological cancers need to be especially careful.

Even with lab tests, show a *demonstrable* health need.
