Perfected mount...what most don't know is most installers simply glue the undermount sink in place without any fasteners. When there is a problem with a undermount you are pretty much screwed whatever method they chose.

undermount leaves the stone around the rim subject to chipping from pan handles hitting et al.

Million dollar question which I’m sure I’m not the only one with this problem. I have the problem where the caulk between the countertop and the sink turns black from bacteria buildup or whatever that stuff is. I’ve tried clearing it and putting all types of different caulk and after about a year or so it turns black again. The caulk is about an 1/8” thick or so but it is so annoying. Any suggestions

I moved in to a new home with undermount sink and i absolutely hate it. There's mold that constantly growing at the seam and for some reason the sink is just glued in without any mounting bracket - a disaster waiting to happen should that glue decide to give way I'm gonna be swapping it out for a low profile over mount sink one of these days

how about if you want the topmount? like if you have a black granite and want the look of stainless steel

They are great especially when the edge of the stone/quartz chips and you have to get it fixed , good revenue after sales right there also you’re moving the hard to clean edge out of sight so bacteria now has a place to breed...

Yeah, Brother. Exactly my thoughts. I'll stick with my heavy stainless sink, even though I am being forced to replace my lovely Corian countertops with that quartz stuff as it sells houses, and I'm selling mine.

I don't trust the undermounts. every time I see them there's a big gap between the sink and stone. I imagine I'd get all kinda gunk stuck up in there.

Lol that's exactly why I'm going for over mount. I see many houses with undermount and between the sink and stone the caulking failed and it looks like crap

So this video is supposed to be answering questions about which type of sync I should choose from my kitchen? And you're supposed to be some kind of experts? I bet if you went through reviews of people who are pissed off about the quality of the sink that they undermounted because the quality allowed the quartz to get stained, the stainless steel to get scratched, etc etc, now they have a nightmare on their hands if they want to replace their undermount sink. As opposed to being dissatisfied with the top mount style sink which is very simple to just lift out instead of having to somehow lift up an 800 lb piece of granite to get to the undermount sink. Very costly. I can't believe you did not even mention that potential issue.

what are the cons of under mount? my concern is the weight. that's a huge deal breaker if the clips give way. the clips holding sink have a certain threshold tolerance. if i have sink filled with heavy dishes and cast iron pots and water, how long before it gives way? also, another negative is leaks. if a faucet washer is on it's last leg and you cant get to a store in the next week or month, a drop in sink will have a lip that allows any water leaks to flow right back into the sink. with an under mount it will go all over the counter and will cause major damage in the smallest cracks since most cabinets are made from pressed wood/chipboard/mdf. and that could cost thousands to replace. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nXimd2WHgqqmbK8

So I currently have a top mount stainless steel sink and hard water. I am able to use a delimer to clean around the faucet, soap dispenser and filtered water dispenser. With an undermount sink, I doubt I could use delimer on granite or quartz because it's so caustic, so how would I get the hard water stains off? And how do you clean the tiny space in between your granite/quartz and sink? That's bound to get pretty nasty! Just some food for thought!
@apollo51523 жыл бұрын
Use toothpicks and a toothbrush 🪥
@SweetStuffOnMonarchLane3 жыл бұрын
@@apollo5152 But if you can't use an acidic cleaner, such as Delime or CLR on granite or quartz, how would you get the hard water deposits off it? A toothpick and toothbrush alone would be no match for the hard water we have. Vinegar is not strong enough either... well, it would probably get a light layer off, but we would have to use it everyday, which would be too harsh on granite or quartz over time.

Are stainless stain sinks good?

People. These guys DO NOT have a clue about what they say ... Yes, Under mount sinks look great but ... MOLD will always appear between the stone and the sink. It is a wet environment. Wet for the most part of the day and mold will grow there. Use a low profile TOP MOUNTED sink and you will never have this issues. Losing space is also NOT correct.You are restricted by the size of the cabinet (33" STD width). Yes there is a difference in size but it is minimal. Not even for free.

The underside of the undermount sinks get moldy and icky. Bad design. bad engineering. Top mount flush to the countertop is much easier maintanence.

The flange gets in the way? Of what? People spending hundreds of dollars they don't need to? So much more counter space? A few inches. Your going to hell for telling people this. Some people will sell their soul for a weeks paycheck. Idk about anybody else but I don't spend a lot of time looking at my sink. I wash dishes in it and that's it. Takes up too much counter top space. What a joke.

Real deal I agree plus he talks out of both sides of his mouth. First he says you get more counter space, but then says you also get a bigger sink, you can not have both there is only so much room. It basically comes down to what look you want and the cost difference. Maybe it is a little easier to clean the counter.
