I love my pair so much I went out and bought a another pair when they came out with the up date shoe and it’s the most comfortable shoe I’ve ever owned on 56 years old and three every day running shoes and I’ve got two pairs of the shoes. I am a loyal customer for life long as they don’t change anything and ultras you can keep them and went out and spent $150 on a pair wore them two times on the trailand blew them out waste of money to me, but everybody has their own opinion I respect that Also, bro, the reason that particular shoe you’re reviewing is so stiff as it has a rock plate in the shoe to make it easier to walk on Rocky ground. The next version that comes out does not have that. I prefer that myself but both are great shoes.

Awesome comments! Yes, I have to admit, Topos quality is top notch. Also, I enjoy the shoe more now since I took the midsole out….feels less thick and I generally feel the shoe is more responsive. Thanks for your input!

Love my terraventure's! Ran in them for a year on trails with barely any wear. but since there are a crap ton of miles on them I just bought a new pair🙂

Most comfortable hiking shoe ever.....before I found this one I was about to give up......I recently did a three day backpacking trip in the mountains and had no pain in feet ankles or legs......I am going to buy a couple more pairs before they become unavailable

Hey! Awesome review. I was wondering if you’ve ever tried the Topo MT4s. On paper, they are identical to the terraventures, but different vibram outsole and no rock plate. I was curious to know how 1 stacked up against the other. Also, the Terras are slightly (0.2 oz maybe) lighter, not that it matters much.

Hi there! Thank you for the compliment! I have not tried the MT4 shoes. Sorry amigo. I have to tell you, I am extremely biased toward the Vibram Megagrip. I swear by that stuff for natural terrain when out on a trail. The stuff really lives up to its name.. combined with the aggressive, lug pattern, the Terraventure gets awesome traction.

@@PerfectingMovement I completely agree with you. I used to run OCR races in the Altra king MTs and holy cow were they good. I was passing so many people slipping up the hills. I tried other Altras and I don’t like the outsole compound. I have the MTN racer 1s and they are mega grip too and I love them. I’m looking for something lighter and more minimal, but with VMG. I am leaning towards the Terra’s bc that and the rock plate (previously broke my D5 metatarsal on the trails so I’m a little hesitant. So the rock plate will make me more comfortable). Yeah man! It is sad that Altra stopped making the king MT. Oh, well. I am hoping that with more shoes that topo comes out with, they will lean more toward the MegaGrip. I’m glad I have another disciple of the MegaGrip!

@@PerfectingMovement I think the king MT was an amazing shoe. I’m mad I didn’t purchase #2. Hopefully Topo keeps the MG, maybe makes something king MT comparable (for like OCR or crazy mud/snow situations). For now I’ll probably purchase the Terra’s, especially for the MG and rock plate. Keep up the good reviews!

This shoe is so close to greatness, but i agree with all your points. I ended up using a brooks cascadia 16 instead, which is a nice alternative to this missed opportunity. The arch support is the weirdest element in this shoe... why? Just why?

I know. Do the Cascadia have Megagrip? Also, I’m not sure if the toebox would be wide enough for me. I used them a long time ago, they have been around a long time. I will say, however, I took out the insole, and I like the shoe a lot more. I would definitely encourage you to give that a try.

@@PerfectingMovement the grip on the cascadia is great and it also has a wide toe box. I need a wide toe box because I have wide feet. Working well so far!

I disagree, “stepbrothers” was an excellent film, but one thing is for certain, these shoes, have a wide toebox and awesome grip.
