Great review, I switched from Lone Peak 6 to the Terraventure 3 and will be buying Topos going forward. Same problem on my toe, I’ve had to re-glue several times. Wish it was more like Salomon XA Pro. See you outside!

Good to see you Jon! And thanks for the shoe update. I've been curious how you've been doing with the shoes and glad to hear they're keeping your feet happy! The two issues are pretty big ones for me, so hopefully Topo is working on them. Thanks again Jon and enjoy the day!

I used superglue for velcro on my Topo's (Pursuit) and it has worked out great thus far. I did cut my velcro strip so that it didn't have corners, like a hotdog if you will, so that the edges wouldn't peal. So far so good. I'll be heading out on the JMT here is 6 weeks so we'll see how they hold up there. But all my training hikes have worked out well. Grand Canyon this weekend, another good test.

I just tried a new method of supergluing that worked great. Right after applying the glue I clamped the velcro overnight and the velcro lasted 500 miles and it still going strong. The clamping worked well for me.

I sewed some string to some velcro and tied the velcro into the little holes with knots. I don't know how long it will last but at least I can use my gaiters.

I like that idea. I have some crazy strong braided fishing line I can use as thread.

I love my Terraventure 3s! My toe flap also came unglued within 100 miles but I just super glued it back and have had no issues since. I start the Colorado Trail Tuesday and I'll be wearing a fresh pair of Terraventure 3s 😊

I will try that. Good luck on the CO Trail! I did a bit of it last year and really enjoyed it.

@jonallenoutside your video on it was great! I have been planning this for 2 years, it feels unreal that it is so close. I can't see another time that I will realistically be able to do another thru-hike so I am going to take my time and try to squeeze every bit out of it

@@CastawayHikes Taking your time is a great plan. The enjoyment of my backpacking trips went way up when I stopped trying to rush through and just relaxed and did whatever felt right on a given day.

Great tip. I have been looking at a Topo Terraventure 3 or 5. Worried about the 3 mm drop because of previous plantar faciatis. I know you battled this too but did the 3 mm drop bother your fascia?
@jonallenoutside Жыл бұрын
3mm was what my podiatrist recommended. Zero drop gave me problems.

Looks like the 3’s are being phased out for the 4’s. Have you had a chance to take a look at the 4’s?
@jonallenoutside Жыл бұрын
I saw that. I read about the four but have not worn one yet. I was thinking of buying several pairs of threes because they lowered the price. They fit my feet so perfectly.
@mikem593311 ай бұрын
@@jonallenoutside yes! Price on the threes currently is very attractive, I can’t find them in my size though 😢 so, ordered some fours from Amazon. Thanks for the reply John, really like your videos ESPECIALLY the video of Pictured Rocks, the one where you list your favorite campsites at the end, very helpful. I’ll be up there hiking the trail in June!! 😊 I like your trail mix recipe too. I made a batch, loved it.

New to hiking. Should I size up half a size? Thanks for the review.
@jonallenoutside Жыл бұрын
I wear my true size. However, I do know some hikers that go up a 1/2 size on trail runners because their feet swell. This varies by person so you’ll need to experiment to find out what works best for you.

Way more durable. I live in Arizona, and these are way better than altras. I have 3 pair in different stages and I will never go back.
@jonallenoutside Жыл бұрын
Agreed! I’m starting to see more and more of them on the trail.
