I worked as the senior sound system tech for over 100 Mothers Finest shows. They are wonderful people and have a unique ability to satisfy an audience. Now, I'm 473 dog years old and wish them well from Thailand.

I probably met you somewhere down the line, I played with doc Holliday, kruella DeVille, Bo Black, Maniacal, a few bands during the '80s and '90s. Mother's finest was the most kick ass funk rock band that ever was for many years there. I distinctly remember them sounding fantastic whenever I saw them play live. We opened for them a couple times actually. I'm from New Bern North Carolina. We played with them at Jaycee county fairgrounds I believe.

Hey Doug! Played much of Eastern NC with both Mothers and Nantucket@@DougCanney1 PePe Daniels was the drummer the first time I worked with them. I worked a couple of tours out of LA and when I returned Barry Borden was drumming, I was sorry when the band fired Michael Keck, when he tried to sell his keyboards on Craigslist, he was robbed. I have also worked with Prince, Motley Crue, AC/DC, Metallica, Deep Purple, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and a few more you may have heard of. I know New Bern and that area. One night, we were running from Greenville to Virginia Beach. AS we passed through Cherry Point, a tank crossed the road ahead of us causing us to slam on brakes Unfortunate, Mothers couldn't pay "A" system rates so I never got to take our "A" system out with them. The low end was much better.

I agree 100%! One of the best live performing groups I have ever heard/seen. BTW, I have been to over 100 concerts and back in the day I went to over 20 rock band/jam competitions and MF always brought the house down and funked their asses off. BTW, I believe they are still performing live today.

What wonderful time capsule, I saw them the next year at Six Flags, can still remember Baby Jean in that outfit. A superior live act, no one wanted to follow this, but everyone wanted them for the opening act. The fans followed them and guaranteed sell outs for the headliners.

'Toppop' was a Dutch weekly top 40 show on television in the 70's and 80's. This is from 1978, judging from Joyce' clothes - she wore the same during their Grugahalle-concert in Essen, Germany in '78.

Well, I don't know about that. I worked over a hundred Mother's Finest as sound tech for the audience sound system. WE never played Hot Lanta or the Electric Ballroom (same place, different name) in that period. Never the less, Hot Lantanas did have some sound and lighting equipment and altho many sound techs did not like the Terry Koehn sound system they had, it was cheaper at settlement than bringing in a real sound company. I think the last show I did there was SIMPLE MINDS, the Scottish band back when Donnie Graves was still the manager.

When Mother's Finest came out with their first Epic/Columbia album, (Mother's Finest) I've been a Fan/Follower since. during their heyday 76" to 79 or 80, these videos did NOT exist, "OR" the record label did not promote them...
