Iv'e got the Big One, it has taken some testing use and abuse. After all is said and done I really like it. I like the desighn I see were it is superior in field use. Now I think I'll get the little one. Also I see the wisdom in changing the placement of the saw blade over the Tom Brown Tracker. With a lanyard you can easily pinch grip the end of the blade for fine cutting task. I love the hook portion and the saw portion alot for buscraft use... Yep got to get the little one..

The forward jimping on the top is for pulling back not forward so you shouldn't have to worry about the thumb coming into the serrations

The reason the blade feels super sharp but doesnt pull cut is because of how it was Sharpned! For the most part Western knife Manufacturers sharpen at the factory in this order: 120 Grit belt for rougth sharpening and final grinding 220 for Burr forming and Final sharpening A big Felt wheel with Compound for deburring and Finish This leaves a very aggressive edge finish that has very large "Teeth" that you can see under a microscope! These cut like serrations and tear through fibers in a sawing motion, but they just catch and hook on a straight pull. That is why the evil Paracord struggled but Mr. Ratchet strap just fell appart! Tops have shown they use a "high quality" Chromium Oxide (Green) wax bound polishing compound. I find the best CrOx "Crayons" are supplied by work sharp in their stropping kits!

​@@Tctbnl as DCA would put it, this is deep in "The Weeds" of knife nerd science. But Its good to know as a knife guy How different grits affect cutting! I personally get best success with a finishing grit between 600-800, this is what "Coarse" ceramics often are, the grey Spyderco Sharpmaker, Fällkniven DC4 and Victorinox "Sharpening "Pen"" all give this kind of finish and are IMO of an excellent grit for EDC, Outdoor and Kitchen work! :)

Hey Chris, great video! As you know I don’t know much more about knives other than you cut things with them. Here’s my thought as I watched you review this knife….looks really cool but aren’t foldable knives just much easier to use, carry and are safer? Curious to know your thoughts on that 👊🏻

That’s is a great question! On the whole I only carry a fixed blade if I’m camping. In the woods a fixed blade is a awesome tool to have. Daily I carry a folding blade. In most situations in your day to day life a folding blade will do everything you will need it to. My state allows me to open carry a fixed blade, AS LONG as no one calls the cops. Weird I know. I could legally carry a samurai sword to Wal mart, unless some one got upset. As far as the safety concern, this might sound like I’m being a smart arse, but the biggest safety concern with a fixed or a folder is the end user. How they use the tool to accomplish the task. As I showed in this video, a single moment of Oopsie and the blade can get ya. Thankfully it was just a “poke” and no harm was done. Folders are so much easier to carry than fixed blades……..in my humble opinion

@@Tctbnl honestly, (yes, i wrote that just to bug you), i would say the best forging scene in movies comes from Rambo IV because it is actually Stallone partially forging the movies blade under the supervision of the bladesmith he comissioned to design and make it. It isn't super dramatic, it is extremely realistic, and I think it sets a great mood in the moment.
