I think the tensioner pulley needs to be on the on the other (relaxed) side of the engine pulley.

Finally! Someone who understands that making a video about a shaker knows that you need to show clearly how it works. Thanks.

Good job. Why the wheels at the front? Would a hinge/pivot do the same job?
@clarkhuffman1975
@clarkhuffman1975 27 күн бұрын
Yes, a hinge or pivot point would work as well. My brother came up with the design and he had the wheels sitting around so he decided to use them. Honestly, I didn't give that aspect of the design much thought.

That is a wonderful look, I’m wondering if you could Mae it where it had 3 racks, top rack everything falls through except 3in rocks and larger. 2nd level would shed the next desired, 1 inch and large rocks, . 3rd rack would allow everything left except 1/2 inch rocks. Also it’s to steep. 15% max.... give material time to shed as much as possible.... you can also have 3 different sautés. 3 inch and larger straight out. 2nd Shute to the left. And lower level to the right.. separating the material beautiful... Everything else falls to the center... .. My only other concern is the belt rattling so much, the tension is to flimsy, just my opinion...

GREAT JOB !! I just recently built one , but it has no shaker. Now I see the simplicity of it. Such a simple machine, but vital when your in the dirt business! Thanks again for sharing!!

Build the screen deck. Set it on springs. Take a rear truck axle with rims on it (no tires). take 3 or 4 inch diameter pipe and cut it in half, making 1.5 inch or 2 inch half circles. Weld those to the rims that are still mounted to the axle and differential. Weld 6, 7, 8, or 10 of them to the rim so when it spins they would bounce a ball up and down if you could keep it on top of the rim. Mount 2 rims with tires on them to the shaker deck, both on axles. Line them up so they're touching the rims on the truck axle with. Sooo, when you hookup the differential to a motor, the motor spins the differential yolk, which spins the bare rims, which spin the tires mounted to the screen deck. There you have a deck that vibrates when those rims spin and every time the half circles hit the tires on the deck, the screen bounces. There's no belt to break, no counterweight, no "special bearings" to replace when they go bad, and heavy duty bearings made for trucks and trailors.

We picked up the pillow bushings from TSC if I recall. Nothing exotic. However, my brother is a machinist and made the counterweight.

Nice job! I think you may need to add couple of angle supports under the screen. Looks like the screen is spanning a fair distance and will fail over time due to soil weight.

Thats what I was thinking myself, I started screening flower beds that had several layers of rock in them by hand last year. I had to add bracing because I kept damaging my screen shaking by hand, actually was putting in too much dirt at a time. Mine was made from 1×1 wood. Worked this 65 year old to death. Started watching videos now I'm going to build a powered one to save my back and shoulders. But like my dad once said boy get yer ass out there and get those rocks outta that dirt.

Nice build, one mistake. you needed to put a cover over the counter weights. otherwise it will throw dirt back at you and all over the place as it is hit by the falling dirt. quick fix and you'll have a nice and safe machine.

LAKESIDEBOB1 - Just looking at this, I see quite a few open rotary parts, great for causing personal damage, injury. Some 1/2" Construction Cloth Wire Mesh Shield, should not be too Expensive to Create and add, to keep fingers, hair, etc. out of those moving parts. Even the 1/4" type, for even better protection! That would also protect belts and drives from rocks causing a thrown belt, etc. Otherwise, it seems to be a good start. Keep at it!

It works well in sandy soil. However, it in clay it is a different story. For clay you will need someone with a rake to help sift the soil.
