That's true. With all the internet scams that are common today especially the romance scams, the victims deny being scammed no matter how much everyone else tries to convince them. They send thousands of dollars to a total stranger (usually in Nigeria) who promised millions will be sent to them later. It's hard to convince romance scam victims as well. My sister knows an elderly lady who gave a scammer her personal information and he cleaned out her bank account. Before he did, family and friends, including my sister, kept telling her the guy was a scammer but she wouldn't believe them.

no NancyGuy, it's not about the average person in relation to humanity in general, it's very clearly specific to the U.S.A. Just because your people suffer cognitive deficiencies don't try and elevate yourself by undermining others. This video only relates to you Americans, it isn't about the "average" person because obviously Americans, hence you, are below average. You've already demonstrated you cannot comprehend what you're being told: it's not about anyone else except Americans. Americans ARE NOT the average person. Americans are vastly outnumbered by different nations, Americans therefore are not representative of the "average" person. America doesn't even constitute 5% of the total human population.

Can you do one like this about the UK as well? I'm Scottish, but even though my comment below shows exactly what I think about certain American's ways of thinking, I think it's a shame they are attacked so much just because of miseducation and the "melting pot" effect of not only their own countries' heritage (people from all over the planet- yes America, you are ALL IMMIGRANTS!) but from what the internet brings into the equation. Surely they aren't the only country in the world with strange ideas because of conspiracy theories and the effect of the internet etc. It's not really fair that they tend to be the World's whipping boy/biggest joke- there are some seriously clever people in that country, and although we acknowledge that fact, you don't tend to get videos that tell us how mental say Swedish, or as I said the UK, or Australian nonsense is. @@brycelahm1283 The USA has started more wars in their short history than any other country in the world. They have lost all the wars they have started when they havnt had another countries armies fighting alongside them. If it wasnt for the French and spanish fighting alongside them in the war of independace they would of lost. Very few British regiments fought in that war it was mostly colonists who didnt want independance which was 90% of the population. How that war started was jews were thrown out of every country in Europe yet again so they went to the colonies in America and made up lies about the British. The king was subisidising the colonist by not taxing them. Merchants were told they had to pay double the value of goods bought from the colonists and charge them half the value for goods sold to them. the King would pay them the differance out of British taxes. The merchants were mainly jews and decided they wil ignore the kings laws and charge what they wanted and say it was due to tax when it wasnt. When a vote was done for independance 90% voted no they wanted to stay British. Thats US democracy for u lol. 10% voted for independance so they got it. The jews hired mercs to go round and force ppl at gunpoint to vote yes after they lost the 1st vote. UN only exists cause the USA demanded it was in the US and did as its told by the US. League of nations failed Cause it refused to give the USA a vito on policies it didnt like. When a UN resolution to name Isreal a terrorist state got a 90% yes vote the USA used its vito to block it. Then threatend to nuke any country that sanctioned Isreal for acts of terrorism. Another resolution to name the USA a terrorist state got a 99% yes vote. only Isreal voted no. USA used its vito to block that.

It is also possible that the survey was worded in a way, that was likely to make less attentive people answer something ridiculous without realizing it - especially if the makers of the survey had a personal bias or intent behind their study. When I was a kid I was super into dinosaurs and the more I read I was so confused because the church I went to said that the earth had only existed 5,000 years but due to my obsession with dinosaurs I knew billions year old dinosaur bones existed. The discrepancy in timelines didn’t jive well with six year old me so I asked at the end of a church service. The church leader told me that dinosaurs lived with mankind. I politely nodded and fake smiled while thinking this guy was either lying or an idiot. At six I knew that if by any chance humans and dinosaurs coexisted humans would have gone extinct 😂

I believe it's much simpler than the frog in the pot off water analogy. Considering, most polling skews toward older people with landlines, your hypothesis makes a lot of practical sense. Significant portions of the catastrophic predictions won't happen until after their reasonable lifespan. A person 76 year young doesn't really have a need to worry about something expected to be problematic in specific regions around 2038, especially if they live elsewhere. This also may explain the HTML & USB outcomes as well as realising the importance of "someone else" knowing tech and computer jargon. It doesn't have anything to do with their day to day lives, and one should not blame them for perceived ignorance. The polling industry is outdated and fading as fast as they are because of this.

It really is a disgrace that so many people are receiving terrible educations. Religion doesn't belong in public school at all, nor should it be allowed to shape curriculum. Honestly I see the spread of Fundamentalism in the U.S. as a bigger threat to our country than Russia... It welcomes ignorance and willfully denies inconvenient facts and truths. But even without the influence of religion on our public schools, clearly we are failing our children. As many have brought up, funding is certainly an issue for many schools, and requiring teachers to instruct course work they are not at all familiar with or qualified to teach is another problem--and that's thanks to the low salaries we pay them, leading to teacher shortages.

I agree, we are destroying our future by not giving our children a proper education, this is the parents fault as much as the government. Parents wont take responsibility for or discipline their children therefore the schools have to use far too much time, effort and money to protect the students and less for actual education. Your also right that religion has no place in the schools, religion is a private matter and should be left for the church. Besides if any religion was allowed any time in the schools then every religion would deserve equal consideration and this just isn't realistic or necessary for the education of our children.

I used to own a cafe in England. We used to sell a lot of sandwiches on toast - bacon, sausages, fried eggs and so on.. One day, a group of people came in and ordered sandwiches, and one girl asked if she could have hers on bread instead of toast. I said, "I'm sorry, we get all our bread ready toasted". She looked a bit disappointed and said "Oh, OK". I then explained that I was joking, and she turned bright red, as her friends laughed at her. I felt bad for her, as I thought anyone of normal intelligence would Immediately recognise it as a deliberately lame joke. Apparently not. It's not just Americans who will believe daft things.

@@Timinator62 : There is some truth in that. But I am not going to hold places that are still trying to develop into something resembling the first world to a nation that has arguably cast itself in a unique light. A quote from a recent Pew Research study : "For instance, more than half of American adults (55%) say they pray daily, compared with 25% in Canada, 18% in Australia and 6% in Great Britain. (The average European country stands at 22%.) Actually, when it comes to their prayer habits, Americans are more like people in many poorer, developing nations - including South Africa (52%), Bangladesh (57%) and Bolivia (56%) - than people in richer countries." People can pray as they wish of course. However illogical religious beliefs are simply ingrained to a greater degree in America than the vast majority of other "western" nations. Which can present greater challenges if said beliefs buck up against or substitute for science. Even in leadership roles or stances.

When I graduated HS in 1981, one of the required courses was called Civics - which was a class on the US Constitution and how the government works. It is my understanding this class has not been taught in HS since the 90s. That would explain why we now have a lot of people who do not know this information --- it has purposely been kept from the people .... :/

Interesting to see how many comments criticize this video as poorly researched, bashing americans etc. I immigrated 20 years ago and have to say: I wouldn't give Americans as much credit as Simon does. There is a staggering number of uneducated and/or plain stupid people in the US who have little understanding of how the world works. This is even true for people holding higher degrees. Don't get me wrong, I love America - it would be better without people though :-) Let's just take one point: Americans know barely anything about the constitution. Most prominent in my book would be the first and second amendment. Americans really do believe that the second amendment was written with the intent for anyone to run around bearing arms. Well, it was not and that becomes clear the moment you actually read the second amendment. Yet, one of the most powerful lobbying institutions in the US steadfastly promotes the idea of people running around with guns to celebrate their freedom (when technically the US are the one free country with the least free people in the world since about 1% of the US population is incarcerated - a lot more than are in prison in South Africa which comes in on second place. But hey, why not be best at something - at least the US are one of only 3 countries in the world still using a modified imperial system when the rest of the world actually can count to 10)

The term "Well Regulated Militia" was a legal term in the 17 and 18th Centuries. "Was the body of all able body men" from 16 to 45 most of the time, who were not part of the standard Militia. They were required to provide a firearm of modern design, in serviceable condition and 20 rounds for the same. The reason for this was to provide for the local or National defense. The drafters of the Constitution didn't trust the Republic not to oppress the people and insure they had a means to fight back
