The measure of intelligence is a lot of different things guys... Look up how an IQ test works if you want to know how the measure of intelligence is broken up. These guys may seem like they know everything, but they're making short step by step videos after like a day of research. Nothing here is worth taking seriously except the early reading levels and finding all tasks to be simple.

Randall C Your 2nd sentence is incorrect grammar and a comma-splice. After “yes,” you were supposed to use a preposition to make it a complete sentence. You’re supposed to use commas only when the portion after the comma is not a complete sentence that’s also preceded by a preposition or if that portion was a complete sentence. So it should be - “And yes, ‘after’ getting my PhD , I realized ‘that’ I know..” - You’re not as smart as you think you are, so stop trying to correct people on their wording in comment sections..

I would just like to send out a great big thank you for posting this video. I'm a middle-aged lady who gets constantly berated for having these attributes. Someone very close to me, just today tried to belittle me about not having enough friends. Needless to say, I gave myself the permission to be released from that persons expectations, and subsequently excused myself from their presence. Not everyone should be the same. What makes the world a beautiful place, is all of our unique qualities and differences. Conformity is not always classy. Be true to yourself, and Do you.💯😇💯✌💯

My husband is the most unique kind of intelligent person. He lost his ability to read when he suffered a brain injury as a child, so he’s functionally illiterate. But in all the other areas aptitude, he’s really smart and creative beyond any book learning that I have acquired. He can fix any small gadgets, Jerry-rig his own original small gadgets and has a crazy, warped sense of humor that keeps me laughing and smiling all day long. And he’s also a pool shark who could easily hustle even the smartest banker out of them all out of his money. Me, I good with the books, and I figure that with his mechanical skill and my book learning, we can take on the whole world, and I love him so much.♥️😂

So feel like I'm so weird, when I was a kid my parents had me tested because they thought I may be "slow" but ends up I'm almost a few points from being a genius but I do have ADHD. If I'm not interested in something like school I do horrible (except when I had teachers I really liked then I did great) but if it's something I'm interested in I know everything about it... Another weird thing is I feel like I'm a slow learner it's like I have to understand everything their is to it, like why does each thing do what it does. That makes me feel not very smart, but I just tell myself it will pay off in the long term. Other people say I'm a fast learner, so it may just be me knowing I don't know everything about the subject. Anyone else feel like that?

Hmmm... ... ... well, honestly? I used to relate with some elements of your comment, but if you allow me - let me share with you a concept/feeling/idea that "set me free": no one is for real. Simple as that. By "for real" i mean "no one is serious about anything". Not because they don't want to but simply because no one absolutely NO ONE holds a VAST amount of information on the majority of the interconnected matrix of areas of expertise that we may find in everyday life. Got it? Every little sentence; Every little idea; Every little "opinion"... if it were put to scrutiny - would probably display a gross lack of information, and thus: not more than a haste assumption, probably inaccurate. ... let me be more specific here with an example: "How are you?" You may answer "I'm fine" "Really? Do you hold the necessary amount of data on Human Psychology to say that your current situation could probabilistically be labeled as fine? I don't think so." See how annoying things can get if we are restrict with what is Good/Bad, Right/Wrong etc... ? Gastronomy Politics Social Dynamics Physics Chemistry Biogenetics Medicine Psychology Molecular biology Engineering Molecular Engineering Entrepreneurship Psychiatry Mathematics Algebra Neuroscience Metallurgy... and the list goes on and on and on and on... ... each one of these subjects could take your LIFE of dedication to fully comprehend it. Ok, let's say that you really are a genius in the true sense of the word - you could still dominate 5 or 8 different fields of expertise... but would completely ignore HUNDREDS or others. ... and not only that... ... also, EVEN when we know the true facts about something, your body is an automatized system that always AUTOMATICALLY searches for its own chemical balance - and by this, is mandatorily twisting and adapting the meaning of the data that comes into contact with (cognitive biases influences that). So what do we got, in the end? A person who knows 3% or less of the available information on the planet, behaving for personal interests (pride and self-image management) trying to project his/her own incomplete/inaccurate thoughts about things that they do not know onto others. Mr. Eric... no one is serious. No one is for real - not even me, right now. So when you say to me that you think you are a slow learner bcos ppl said X or Y to you... well man, they damaged your self-image thru repetition, sorry for that. Sorry to say but you are also not a genius... You're not ugly, You're not tall You're probably not dumb You are not anything you did not accept to be. ... and even when you accept a label - chances are that if we are restrict on how to verify the authenticity of it - it would turn out to be wrongly labeled. ... Eric - you are YOU. Nothing else. Sadly you and me we are products of our environment - colors, people, objects, sentences, dreams... everything shaped us into what we are now... but there is nothing nothing ...that prevents us from changing ANYTHING about us at any moment but ourselves. Well I can still keep up with the comment, but it's already quite long and I believe I made my point. That's my massage to you, man. I accepted by heart what I've said here, and today I consider myself completely free and indifferent towards external judgment - _everyone knows nothing about everything._ So be free my friend, we are all unique we all have this only chance to do with our existence whatever we feel like into it. Just be proud of what you are (if you want) and aim towards your goals knowing that you are the most important person in the planet. Hugs from Brazil!

@@rezopolis Excellent comment you wrote. I'm at a point in life I think that to be brilliant is to not buy into this system of things. To be successful also can have many meanings to many people. I think as we destroy our environment by so called progress, we're proving society, especially those we've allowed to control and condition us as to what these things are, we're fools, fooling ourselves.

My middle son fits into every description...when he was 3 he made his own to scale models from cardboard...I had him evaluated in 5th grade .. he had a genius IQ and the knowledge and vocabulary of a college freshman..he invented a smokeless camp stove that he sells online..he is extremely artistic and imaginative..he home schools his 5 year old who takes after him..he constantly researches information..and has many interests..I told him I'd read where children inherited their intelligence from their mother..he found the information delightful...

Most important is willing to challenge yourself and grow as a person. I used to not like learning but as I got older and wiser, I constantly want to grow my knowledge and do everything I learned from school. I take notes for almost everything and constantly want to be challenge and be uncomfortable. I became willing to take risks and expand what I know. I love hearing and learning different prospective of things.

EDIT: I don’t remember which, but I think there were only two of these that I actually considered accurate. The rest is nonsense that fits a whole bunch of people

Yes. That old line about talking to oneself being the first sign of madness really refers to those poor unfortunates who walk down the street having a private argument with themselves. That is a sign of serious mental illness. Merely thinking out loud, I find, is generally a sign of higher intelligence.

Best video ever. Many of these things I used to talk about 20 years ago before there was research because I was trying to figure out why no one could understand me or how I thought. So glad this is all coming out... the hyper focus thing, yeah. Once I went to the library to study for a test in the morning, but instead a book in the stacks caught my eye and one thing led to another and like 14 hours later they flashed the lights in the library to signal closing and I was surrounded by books and notes... and I was like “DANG!” I was just starting to make progress. I never did study for the test. 😐 I taught myself neuroscience that way too. I left graduate school because they didn’t get it. I was operating on different assumptions by then about basic nature of brains and reality. I am feeling a little better today about being so different and I wanted to thank TOPTHINK!! 🥰 I i’m currently sitting in my car in Santa Monica California. I live in my car because having a regular day job and apartment tends to cut into my thinking time if you dare ask me a question about something non-trivial like a big question get ready because you’ll get an answer that I guarantee it will be much more than you ever anticipated 😂

@@billkaiana7441 Ya, I have had several friends who went to or taught at Harvard. One of them was in my freshman year of undergraduate school. He had a full scholarship to Harvard but had a nervous breakdown there and was trying to recover at the university in Iowa I decided to attend because my parents met there etc. I will never forget that as long as I live. Seeing him and what happened to him. Then I had another friend in Canada Jordan Peterson who I have known for 20 years since before he was famous. He did better there as a professor but ran into issues at the University of Toronto later. I wasn’t in school for achievement or degrees just to learn things. To interact with humans etc. and use the library. I nearly flunked out of school in every single grade until high school. So I never really had the “drama of the gifted child” thing-never learned to get along to go along. I have an 160 IQ which I value but there’s other things about me I value more. Like total motivation for truth. You hardly ever meet anyone like that, humans having selected them out with politics in the past pretty heavily. The bell-curve can tell you all about history. The shape of it in different groups tells me the personality patterns of the ancestors statistically. It is much more meaningful to me. Everything is. It’s like I am the only “reality literate” person I know because of this odd thing. I read reality and the universe like it was written. My first book was on how the universe is like a giant textbook. Lol. 😂🙏🏻👍🏻

Growing up I used to always make great grades on all my test, pop quizzes, and all my classroom work but I'd never do my homework unless I was able to jot down soom things last minute before class started. I made so pretty good grades but could have easily made the best grades in the school easily if I had applied myself more. I've always had a ton of common Sense and can do almost anything. It has always been clear to me that I'm really smarter than most and I love to learn at least one new thing every day. I don't like to brag about it most of the time cause I like for most people to not know just how smart I actually am. I do however as find myself telling and explaining to my wife and son over and over again because they both make me mad by saying things like I'm not as smart as I think I am! 😠😠😁😁

High IQ is useful, however,on the scale of emotional development, unless it is balanced out, well, at ~~The Heart Level . (ie with empathy and compassion) Extreme intellect can be the harbinger of a cold and even, sadistic personality. Way too many "Great" but ruthless, leaders, politicians, business tycoons etc, fit such a category. I would, far, rather be in the company of a simple soul with a kindly disposition, than one so stuck within his cranium that he cares for no one other than himself.

What I learned from this video ... is that in 2020, that perception that 'brilliant' people must be Male and White ... and usually wear suits, still exists. I was having Flashbacks to the 50's throughout the video. The visual message clearly is - "BRILLIANT PEOPLE" are nearly always ... Male and White and wear suits ... yet I don't ever remember seeing Steven Jobs, Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates .. or Jeff Bezos in a SUIT!! Anyone who's brilliant - but not Male and White - is probably deeply offended after watching this. Stereotyping at its worst.

Most of what people learn now is from KZbin and the internet. This is a tactic to gain one’s curiosity. However I do understand where you’re coming from though. Have a great day and stay strong out there. Since we’re all locked in this is one way to gain knowledge. :)

this explains why i don't really have anybody to enjoy dark humor with.but still... i never really think that i was a smart person, but rather a boring eccentric clown who has imbalance hot and cold , hard to comprehend and don't fit in anywhere. nobody around in my life is that are always curious about how things were made, what, why, and where. can't find anyone close to me that i can discuss about my imaginations about the other side of the world, and talk about ones experiences with spiritual things, paranormal stuffs, diseases, crimes, inventions, taking risks doing things, go explore places, urban legends, the in-depth of everything, like how far we can push our imaginations, and the list goes on. damn... but i really enjoy reading about everything, everyday something will just popped up in my mind and start asking myself silly questions. i can't bear waiting for next time to know the answers, so i'll always have stuff to ask Google everyday. and i'm really happy doing it because it fulfills my day. to know another new thing everyday. i've been talking to myself since i was little. and by talking i mean really having a conversation with myself, and i really feel that i am talking to another person.became so comfortable doing so that i dont feel bothered by people called me weirdo. it translates ''you're pretty' to my ears. i never think it's a weird until people said it was. welp... so i enjoy being alone as much as i do with talking to myself. just immersed myself in the solitude that can't be replaced. *english is not my first language, sorry for any grammar typos*

I don't need a list to validate my intellect... Also, the very notion that everyones "intelligence" can be measured accurately today is in itself silly considering there are probably many forms of ones intuitive nature that we have yet to examine due to our limited understanding of... ourselves. We focus on the IQ test and completely disregard the EQ (Emotional Quotient) which will be a much more important subject once society reaches the point we are consciously aware of the emotional affect we have on reality around us. The hearts importance other than to simply "pump blood" etc... I digress.

Even though most smart people have humility, after a point one may occasionally need to declare how smart they are to avoid being misunderstood as an idiot just because they are different, good observers and tend to self instruct etc. Idiots tend to think that everyone else is an idiot, just as smart people tend to think everyone else is also smart. So every now and then you may need to tell idiots that you are not an idiot and even need to show some kind of proof to get them off your chest, to avoid their bullying, or mobbing, etc. So if you are reading this, and have done this declaration time to time even though being a modest person, it does not mean you are an idiot, but may mean that you are surrounded by idiots. Hugs for you.

⚔️Multitasking: Here’s the Thing: “ 1 brain takes on 1 task, at a time; if we have another task on going, we must stop one, then our brain switches to the other task, because we don’t have 2 brains, therefore it’s not possible to multitask!” Car accidents that are caused by inattention: When we look away from paying attention to the road, then look back; during that time of our refocus on driving, our brain has to switch back, from our inattention! There is a fraction of time, that we have zero attention on either task, during which we must put our trust to fate! We must realize that we risk lives by doing this! Our brain reacts much like switching a radio for 1 example, the radio doesn’t have any control over of what it’s next station will be, until it’s switched, but between the processes, is when the zero attention occurs. Reading abilities: Dyslexia distracts from my focus on reading, because the words tend to jump away from my attention. Knowing this, I’ve forced myself to bear with difficult reads, by continually jumping back, to my read. Starting with comic strips, newspaper articles, to simpler reads; I’ve learned my own mastered technique, to overcome these annoying interruptions; by clearing any other distractions, as much as possible. But, catching up to those, of whom, don’t have Dyslexia, has made me more selective in what I read. Even Plato’s Republic was not an easy bread, but my reward for reading it, is gratifying 🛡
