It's not just the fact khamzat wasn't active for a year. Covid almost killed him, khamzat thought he'd never fight again, then went through depression, changed a bunch of the personnel behind him during training and then showed up and mauled a legend of the game. WOW

Khamzat has become a real professional now. He said his training camp for Whittaker was the first time he ever had nutritionists and doctors, which explains why he made weight and didn't get injured or sick because he's actually recovering and not over-training. I think we're going to see active Khamzat again, albeit one that fights every 6 or so months and probably only in Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

Ilia Topuria is a cheat code of a fighter. Beautiful boxing. Relative to his amazing grappling skills, his boxing is quite a new addition but yet he looks like a veteran in that department. Perfectly well rounded. He’s only 27. I don’t think anyone beats him in his division. Khamzat gave us a “Yall must’ve forgot” type of performance. No one wants to watch Mr. Jab-Teep weirdo-Strickland against Dricus again.

I agree with Strickland but I think do finishes khamzat, Ddp is so strong and doesn’t stop coming forward. Khamzat was tired from like 3 minutes of fighting with Whittaker, I don’t see khamzat subbing ddp early and I think ddp is strong enough to hold his own in the grappling. If they fight I think ddp finishes him in the 4th

Nah, this is not the type of injury that alters a fighter's trajectory. It's not a horrific KO that shatters a fighter's chin, or a blown out ACL that could compromise their mobility forever. It's just his teeth, which a) will heal just fine after the procedures are done, and b) have very little bearing on a fighter's ability to fighter once healed.

@@therainman7777that is not quite true, it weakens the jaw considerably, it also changes the geometry of his face even with corrective procedure. He will be out for at least a year if he is sensible. His jaw collapsed the procedure used are bone grafts, surgical wiring or plates. 6 month recovery time then an unspecified amount of time to test the jaw and hope for no repercussions

Khamzat is an absolute savage, it's a different type of strength that he posses, not a wight lifting type strength but just a natural strength that's hard to put into words. If you have ever wrestled or fought a wrestler you'll know what I'm taking about. You get some guy who doesn't look that strong until they grab ahold of you and you're like wtf. Khamzat just needs to keep focused but he could be the most talented fighter the UFC has ever produced.

If you actually watch the final sequence, you can see khamzat elbow Rob in the jaw and then the squeeze happens not long after. I think he possibly fractured it right before the face squeeze.
