I think I understand "ad velo yada" now. The point is to reach a point where you can say I don't know. It's not anti-intellectual. it's saying go, maximize what you can know, so that you see clearly that you DON'T know. Right?

although maybe there's another way of understanding it, that really, if you know you don't know, what's the point in trying to know? If you know, great, but if you don't, ok, and if you know you don't, even better!
