As a non-welder I've learned more from your videos than many other channels combined. Thanks for your calm, insightful presentation and willingness to show your real work. Warts and all.

Thanks for doing this. Great to hear about you using the 000 tip. I got a 0, and then 00 (I think it was) and they helped so much for me. It seems like I should have gone further. As for the sound, I just put on earphones and it was fine.

small tip and high pressures make more sense... sorta like any fluid cutting process? and having that higher pressure clearly helps you when youre cutting outside on a windy ass day

Hi there - could you mention the pressures used for both the oxygen and acetylene gases when cutting both the thin large plates, including pressures used when gouging? Great video!

Good lessons for all age folk. Even old farts like me. Notice that spitting sound the torch made after you cleaned the center of the tip. = ready to cut. Thanks!

Victor torches is the only torches i used and the tip is use the right size tip and proper gauge settings
@charlesblanton10083 жыл бұрын
Yes, the textbook will tell you a certain thickness of material calls for a certain size tip, which calls for certain regulator settings for your oxygen and for your fuel (depending on what it is). This all determines some textbook height above material and travel speed that is ideal. I repeat the term "text book" because in the field and even in the shop "text book" conditions rarely exist. What matters is the final product. You watched him cut what appears ti be 3/4" plate, in a tight curvy pattern no less, and there was so little slag that the piece readily fell away. That tells you that all the above mentioned factors are within acceptable levels. That is, this man has mastered his craft and found the settings, techniques, etc. that work for him. This is the third comment I've seen from you since going back through some of these earlier videos opining about proper torch settings, tip sizes, travel speed, yada yada. Not saying you are necessarily incorrect, but maybe you should do your own video to share your technical knowledge and demonstrate your superior technique. 🤷♂️

I didn't watch but I assume it went something like this......tip must be clean, pressure for tip size matters and don't pinch your hose....... then....start cuts on edges, high points and get a good preheat......etc....
