When I received the Holy Spirit I was alone in my prayer closet on my knees praying. I literally felt fire on the crown of my head and began to cry because I felt the overwhelming love of God. "Holy Laughter" has unsettled me since an incident in my childhood. We had a guest preacher at our church here in the States when I was a kid and this guy stood up there and acted like he was this important messenger. He was "prophesying" non-stop and he urged the youth first to come to the front and he started to lay hands on some ladies. I remember going to the front and just feeling weird. Feeling like my senses were heightened and something threatening was present but I couldn't explain the feeling. Some of the other youth felt the same because they went to sit back down. Almost everyone he was praying over started jerking and falling on the floor. Then these girls started laughing. I had never seen that and it just looked like they were mocking. Laughing hard. It scared me, I think I was like 10. This guy kept going and the worship leaders started worshiping and the girls kept laughing. The service ended and they were still laughing. The girl's parents were starting to get worried, the guy just sort of tried to bash them for their unbelief and told them not to interfere with the holy spirit. He LEFT. It was late at night now. I remember it must have been almost an hour and these girls where exhausted, still in this weird trance. They couldn't come to. Our pastor then realized what was really going on and they started to try to liberate them. It was horrible. My parents stayed after. I remember one girl had to be helped into her family's vehicle and they just left with her still not opening her eyes or speaking. Just mumbling and whispering incoherently. Since then I do NOT trust that manifestation and I don't let just anyone lay hands on me.

I had a pastor who, in hindsight I believe had the kundalini spirit, lay hands on me. He started to pray over me and he told me to repeat the prayer he was saying. I started to and felt the Holy Spirit move in me so strongly. The only words that could come out of my mouth was repeating, "Look into my heart, Lord, see what's in my heart." The pastor kept admonishing me to repeat the prayer he was saying, but the Holy Spirit wouldn't let me. I believe in our living God who is with us with every step we take. #feelingprotected

I’ve just left this online ministry. They have an online service 7 days per week. The pastor is very charming and personable. He preaches a great sermon. It felt like I was being loved bombed and there was a heavy emphasis on prosperity, claiming Gods promises and walking in the power of the Holy Spirit with super natural encounters but next to nothing about repentance, holiness, or obedience. The pastor started talking about angelic encounters in all of his sermons. He spoke of finding gold dust and feathers and prayed that angels would follow people hearing his voice and tickle them. After this, I ran and never looked back.

I am so heart broken over this great deception. I am at a church that I love, where I was baptized and where I was freed from addiction and plan to be married. We realized they take a lot of influence from Bethel Church in Redding CA and we are now being forced into a very stressful situation in which we must either leave and not look back, or call for repentance. Pray for us please, we are newly saved and fell into the trap. Our church is small and the people are so kind. They get so much right, but the things they get wrong are intolerable.

Barthelemy This is simply not true. Jesus wanted us to worship together and there are Bible verses proving this. To the original poster; definitely get out and don’t look back. One tip I’ve recently learned is that non-denominational churches are lacking discernment. There are countless Baptist churches that are NOT good, but I’ve heard good things about fundamentalist Baptist churches. Also, if the church plays ANY music from Bethel music or Hillsong, GET OUT. I’m heartbroken because I love contemporary Christian music, but I’m considering cutting most of it out now and going back to the old hymns. Sounds drastic but I don’t want to risk being deceived as I was before. Good luck and I hope you see this.

I cannot believe this! Earlier today, me and a couple of my church mates did fast and pray. At the end of our praise and worship, they started having these "manifestation of the spirit" and there were few of us who didn't but all of the youth that were present did. I felt really sad and bad. I kept asking the the Holy Spirit to come unto me because I believed that that's how He manifests, through laughter, or cries or jerking movements. But it never happened. So I cried because I felt that I wasn't good enough to be filled by Him. So went home with sadness and I started looking up what could be wrong with me, because why not me? I started into feel discouraged. I didn't even want to read my bible anymore. Now I feel so awful having to think that. I have so much to be grateful for. Thank you Jesus Christ.

Amen. Carel, I too often asked the Holy Spirit to manifest in the ways that I saw my friends, and other members of my (former) church. However, He refused. ]One time, when I was thirteen, I was prayed for that the Holy Spirit may come upon me. People around me were speaking in tongues, but I wasn't. I felt inferior. In fact, the man who prayed for me looked visibly discouraged that I didn't pray in tongues. Of course, this made me feel bad. It wouldn't be until three years later that I would be baptized in the Holy Spirit and would begin speaking in tongues. Not in the presence of men, but in the shower. It was a wonderful feeling of peace. Don't be distraught that you haven't experienced those gifts. Instead, be grateful and happy for the ones God has already given to you. Remember, He chose you for that specific gift; O how great His love is!

Here is the explanation for the sceptical or them that follow the doctrines of men and tradition instead of the spirit of truth. Rebekah Hyer Don't trust Christian radio. I had a weird experience in my room singing Bethel songs, then I stopped the music, opened my eyes and started to look into what they teach. I was shocked how it did not align with the Word. I switched to old hymns, psalms, to songs with more Scripture. sing the word, pray the word and live the word. I recommend Keith and Kristyn Getty, Paul Wilbur, hymns, I grew up with the hymns, Sovereign Grace music, the psalms project band. There are still good sound doctrine music ministries out there. Dont go to the other extreme and say all are deceived.

I agree, I've had holy laughter, but I would never describe it as cackling. The Word does say in thy presence is fullness of joy (Psalm 16:11), a joyous person laughs. Also the wise men had exceeding great joy when they saw the star. (Matthew 2:10-11, before the Holy Spirit came, admittedly, but how much more joy do you suppose we should have?) Also, Righteousness, Peace and Joy in the Holy Ghost 💙 is the Kingdom of God (Romans 14:17, I know the context is eating and drinking, looking at spiritual things rather than physical, however in this context discerning proper holy laughter and a manifestation of evil is being spiritually minded.) The joy of the Lord is victory over enemies and circumstances

Joy,Jesus was carrying the cross on His beaten back and the women were weeping for Him. He said to them, don't weep for Me, weep for yourselves. I Am doing this for the joy set before Me. Haven't you had joy when you are cleared of cancer etc.? (As an example). Perhaps you did laugh for such an answer, but not the laughter That is called holy. The Holy scriptures do not refer about holy laughter. It talks about things that give us joy . Take some time to yourself, seeking God's help to discern holy laughter using scriptures for reference.

Wait I want to ask about laughter, one time I was repenting in my room, no church, no music, just me alone with God and the bible. The spirit came upon me so powerfully, is started with crying (it was being broken over sin), I felt like what you described, demons leaving, spirit entering. As I transitioned to peace, I couldn't help but giggle abit...but not hysterically, but the joy was so powerful, I couldn't help but smile and yes I laughed abit, I'd like to think it was more of a joyful victorious laugh over darkness, only for five seconds though, then total peace beyond understanding. Can't the holy spirit do that?

Your experience seems completely legitimate and sometimes there can be a light, almost bubbly feeling of freedom [accompanied with some gentle laughter] when the Lord does His work ...but he specifically mentions here the 'cackling of demons' or it's often out-of-control laughter which frequently becomes disruptive as well. It's often disturbing to those around them, or 'out of context' in a meeting and interfering with the teaching or a holy, prayerful moment. Scripture says, "The spirit of the prophet is subject to the prophet" 1 Cor 14:32 and the immediate next verse says, "God is not the author of confusion". So his explanation stated that God brings on peace, which is what you experienced completely "total peace beyond understanding". In his meeting which he mentioned, things got more tense with body convulsions ...more chaotic with disruptive cackling laughter. The Lord does say, "Test the spirits to see if they be from God." 1 John 4:1 which means you might have to check things out carefully at times. Watch, add things up ...which is what he noticed when he was open & receptive, but then one by one there were too many things that raised questions and were out-of-order. May the Lord abundantly bless your continued walk in Christ.

Right on word. I remember when holy laughter first came to a church I was attending in the mid 90's. I immediately recognized it as a false spirit that prevents people from coming to repentance. Yes that’s true. It was happened to my church too. The pastor said it’s laugh from heaven. But when everyone received I said to myself why I don’t receive it. And I know it is God protection on me. Because I welcome Holy Spirit in my pray. And there was a evangelist who can bring down manna from heaven. This one was funny for me. No manna come from heaven like she said and like the pictures she shows to us. She began angry to us because nothing happen. Lol. Please do a video on Reiki Healing. This is another method of channeling spirits. I was told by a Master Reiki Healer, who wanted to heal me of my pain. Without knowing or research Reiki, I said NO, I want to keep my light to myself, I do not want my spirit, or energy changed or manipulated in any way. So I researched their practice, and found out their healing comes from energy from the Universe. So I was right! These healers channel spirits. Oh my goodness. Okay, I literally just remember the prophet at the church I used to attend made someone feel like a seal and make noise like a seal. They all thought including myself thought that was the Holy Spirit but I keep seeing more things that confirms that, that church is actually moving under the Kundalini spirit. My mother questioned things at that church in the beginning and asked God about it and she got a dream that there's a demon I think or the devil disguised as an angel, an angel alike. She eventually thought that the dream was not from God because how can it be so after receiving prophecies that came to pass and after getting prayers and feeling better or whatever? So we both just said it was not from God but now I see that dream was very much from God and I see now that all I can do is pray for both my parents eyes to be opened and be delivered from this spirit because I think my mother has this Kundalini Spirit and well my father fakes those fake tongues but he really thinks it's the real thing.

I experienced holy laughter when baptised in the Spirit after a demon had left and then I spoke in tongues. Just to say that there is a genuine laughter in the Spirit which for me was very healing. The laughter seen in these type of meetings goes on and on every time and is not the same as what I experienced when baptised in the Spirit.

Exactly! The same happened to me. If a person can experience the Holiness of a loving God and cry & shake speechless in his presence, then how come you can't experience laughter in the spirit which is a manifestation of the joy of the Lord? The only place these things happens is in a Charismatic setting. If it was God there would be a history of it and the bride would experience it. Michele Allen’s Testimony: I was born and raised in a wonderful home. When I was 17 years old a friend of mine showed me in the Bible that “We must be born again to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. I went to a Evangelical-type church and church camp. There,I felt the presence of God for the first time in my life!! It was truly amazing! I sincerely repented and cried rivers of heartfelt genuine tears of sorrow for the life I had been living. I was told that I was “born again” But for the next three years I experienced feelings of the frustration of not being able to live for God. I felt unworthy Bc I kept failing Him. I could not seem to grow in God like the Bible talked about and continued to revert back to a sinful lifestyle. I felt utterly defeated Bc I could not stay faithful to God, His Word or His commandments. I could not tell you how many times I was “born again”again at the altar of repentance. It wasn’t until I was almost 20 years old, walked into an Apostolic Church and got a Bible study that the truth of salvation began to be come to light: The gospel indeed is the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ: (I Corinthians 15: 1-4). The best thing I ever learned was how to rightly divide the word of truth. The four Gospels which are Matthew, Mark, Luke and John talk about Jesus and His earthly ministry. In the book of John, Nicodemus came to Jesus in the night and Jesus told him unless a man be born again...so they talked ABOUT being born again JOHN 3:3-5 (except a man be born of the water and of the spirit he cannot enter the kingdom of heaven) but no one was actually born again anywhere in the 4 gospels. Before Calvary they were still under the law but after Calvary they are under under grace. No one could be born again until Jesus had been glorified. (John 7:37-39) This is why the thief on the cross was able to be be with Jesus in paradise. It isn’t until you get to the book of Acts, after the resurrection and when the 1st century church started on the day of Pentecost that you actually witness people being born of the water by being baptized by immersion ONLY in the name of Jesus. And where they saw and heard them be filled with the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues. So if you want to find out HOW to be born again, the Book of Acts is the only place anyone was ever actually born again. Acts 21-4,2:38,3:19,8:12-18,8:35-39,10:43-4816:30-34,18:8,19:2-6 In John 3:8 and Acts 2:33 Speaks of how you cannot see the wind but you know that it is moving because you see the branches move and you hear the wind through the leaves. And so is every man that is born of the Spirit. You cannot see the Spirit if God (John 4:24) but when it enters a man you can see the tongue move and you can hear the utterance of them speaking as the Spirit gives the utterance. Whenever God gave a promise he always gave the sign to that promise. In the old testament he made a covenant promise with Noah He would never flood the earth with water again and the sign to the promise was the rainbow. Then God made a promise covenant to Abraham that he would be the father of many nations and the sign of that promise covenant was circumcision. In the new testament God promises us the Holy Ghost and tells the disciples to tarry in the upper room for the promise Bc since Jesus can no longer get be with us He now wants to reside in us. The promise is the Holy Ghost and that sign to that covenant promise is tongues. In James 5 it says that the tongue is the most unruly member of the body. When God has control of our tongue it shows we have submitted our entire being to Him. The Holy Ghost and Fire/Tongues of Fire. The evidence of the Holy Ghost is speaking in tongues. (Matt 3:11-12, Luke 3:17-18, Acts2:1-4) He shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with Fire. Receiving it will keep you out of the eternal flames of Fire! 🔥 Then the Epistles are from Romans to Jude. They are letters written to the churches of Saints that have already been born again...Letters written to born-again believers that have already received the Acts 2:38 message. In some places in Acts and even in the epistles it says to just believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved. Well, believe what? The Gospel! What is the Gospel? I Corinthians 15:1-4 t 1. death, 2. burial, and 3. resurrection of Jesus Christ. How do we OBEY (action word) the Gospel? 1. repentance (death to self), 2. baptism in Jesus name (burial) and 3. receiving the Holy Ghost (Resurrection) with the evidence of speaking in tongues in Acts 2:38-39 and John 3:3-8. The Death, Burial and Resurrection/Repentance, Baptism and Receive the Holy Ghost theme is thread throughout the entire Bible. In Exodus when the children of Israel were in Egyptian bondage God told Moses to tell them to strike blood of a spotless lamb door post of the HOUSE 🏡 THREE (3) times and then the death Angel would pass over them and the firstborn in their house would not die. It’s the same for us: When we 1. repent 2. Get baptized 3. Receive Holy Ghost The blood 🩸 of Jesus is applied to us each time Bc in Ephesians 2:22, I Corinthians 3:16 and Romans 8:9-11 it says that we are the house of God when He comes to live inside of us. In Leviticus when the Priest went into the TABERNACLE/TEMPLE to perform the ritual for the children of Israel to have their sins rolled ahead one year up till Calvary. The PRIEST applied blood on his body 3 times and he also applied blood on the 3 pieces of the furniture. The Bible says in first Peter 2:5-9 that we are royal PRIESThood . (I Corinthians 6:19) The Bible also says that our bodies are TEMPLES of the Holy Ghost. So it is the same for us: when we 1. repent 2. Get baptized 3. receive the Holy Ghost. The blood of Jesus is applied to us. Obey is an action word. We can believe all we want the light will turn on but unless we walk over and turn that light switch on the light won’t go on. (Ephesians 2:8-9) We are saved by faith and not of works lest any man should boast. I was almost 20 years old when I went down into the waters of baptism in Jesus name for the remission of my sin. When I came up out of the water I could hardly breathe because I felt like a brand new baby!! (at this moment, in a natural birth, the water, blood and baby is there but until the you hear the baby cry after taking in that first breath of air it could be still born. So you wait for the cry to know that baby is alive-so is everyone that it’s born of the Spirit) I began to speak in other tongues and could not speak English. It was the most amazing, the most powerful and the most enlightening and cleansing experience I’ve ever had in my entire life!! It wasn’t until at that moment I was truly born of water and of the Spirit. I was finally filled with the power to help me live a victorious life and to conquer many temptations that came my way. (Romans 13:14) When you are baptized you are covered or have put on Christ (Gen 3:21-God clothed or put on the coats of skins of a bloody animal to cover the sin of Adam and Eve), (Romans 6:4) you are buried with Him in baptism, (Acts 2:33, 3:19) you have your sins remitted, (Acts 4:12) you take on His name in baptism Bc the only way anyone was ever baptized was in the name of Jesus. (Matthew 28:19-The name is the Father is Jesus (John 5:43) The name of the Son is Jesus (Matthew 1:21) The name of the Holy Ghost is Jesus (John 14:26) When you take on His name you become his Bride. When you speak in tongues that is the evidence of Jesus living inside of you. (Romans 8:9-16) You are then adopted and become the sons and daughters of God. The Holy Ghost is just a portion of our inheritance. If we do not have His Spirit dwelling in us we are none of His and we will not be taken in the rapture. Those three years between the ages of 17-20 I was living on a repentance experience. “ Leaving Jesus hanging there on the cross” so to speak. (Matthew 28:19, Mark 16:16, Acts 2:14-41, Acts 8:37-38, Acts 10:47-48). I was not obeying the command to be buried with him in the waters of baptism and I had not received the Holy Ghost So I could be resurrected to walk in newness of life. Definitely test every word, last year, I had an experience where the Holy Spirit spoke to me as the preacher was speaking. What the preacher was saying compared to what the Holy Spirit was saying, the Holy Spirit said, “we are to love not with clinching and gnashing of teeth, but to Love because we love Jesus so much that we will love other like he loves us, with Mercy and Grace, and forgiveness”. Had a very similar experience in a church that I had ( prematurely joined) on the advice of family members... I had recently moved across country and was very excited to be able to worship with my daughter, son in law and grandchildren for the first time. So after a few weeks I did become a member. In the first few weeks I saw a few things that made me cautious but as you said the Pastors messages all sounded on target and biblical. I began to notice the way the Pastor’s wife dressed ( a 50 ish woman) ... very very spray painted on tight clothes, very “ sexy “ high heel shoes. Just inappropriate. Then a woman Who also dressed terribly inappropriate went into “ convulsions “ is the only way to describe. Jerky body movements and guttural sounds at the front during Praise and worship.... many people got into extreme trance like swaying during worship songs that were played over and over. I’m so Grateful to the Holy Spirit for giving me discernment to leave . Unfortunately my family is still involved but I’m praying that the Lord opens their eyes also.

I was a new believer in Christ and became a part of one of these churches. I started reading my bible and also the Holy Spirit was telling me something isnt right. I started questioning things. The "apostle" called me a jezebel spirit because I was "rebelling" against their teachings. Um well I was following the bible instead. Well they didn't like that and shunned me. They told all church members to shun to shun me. It was a new church so it only had like 15 people. Anyway I am glad I got out. Thank you Jesus!

I saw this happening in awakening Australia (i distinctly remember people howling a few years ago) and intially i was very confused but began to understand over time this is not from God. It's still a struggle for me as I genuinely came to know Jesus through a church that is quite aligned with NAR and I'm still searching for a clear delineation of the truth. We do need this truth to be preached.
