Is Torchwood worth a watch for its connection to Who? I haven't seen it. In fact, I'm only up to the first season of, um can't remember the number, the Matt Smith Doctor. Started from the First Doctor and am there now lol.

Torchwood is a spin-off started during David Tennent's duration as the doctor (The first time lol). There's some loose continuity between Doctor Who and Torchwood but it's little things. In my opinion, Torchwood season 1 is mostly bad, season 2 is better but still not amazing and season 3 is the season you watch torchwood for. I think it's worth a look into torchwood to see if you'd like it but in terms of your Doctor experience, you're missing very little for having not watched it
