Yeah, this is kinda one of my problems with the RTD era, they had a couple good chances to bring back the Brig, yet didn't. He only got a comeback in the Sarah Jane Adventures. RTD wasn't the only one who skipped out on bring back characters when they had the perfect opportunity. Moffat had the chance to bring back Ian a couple times, yet didn't. Class could have had him cameo. And Twice Upon a Time would have been perfect to bring back Susan! But Alas, these things, which would have been the perfect fan-service, never happened. Maybe some of it was due to health reasons (I believe both the Brig and Ian were both due to return in 'The Sontaran Stratagem/Poison Sky' and 'The Day of the Doctor' respectively. I believe Ian was meant to hand Clara the letter she gets at the start).
@TheSkully3436 жыл бұрын
To his defense RTD did try more than a few times to get Nick Courtney to repise his role in Doctor Who, but he was usually in poor health at the time which sank plans to get him back in anything else but the Sarah Jane Adventures. More aggregious to me is the fact that we never saw Susan or Ian again, especially for the 50th Anniversary.
@f1since086 жыл бұрын
RTD wanted him back, but he was usually too ill. He was supposed to meet the Doctor in SJA but was too ill. RTD wanted him in DW but Nick wanted the Brigadier to die, which RTD didn't want to write.

@tomboychick2 жыл бұрын
I think Martha & Rory are probably the strongest companions in the history of the show, for what both go through. Martha lived through a year of hell that never was, on her own, while Rory lived for centuries as a Roman Auton centurion, on his own, protecting the Pandorica that contained the Doctor\Amy.

+Sinom The thing is, for me all the episodes with them in, they're either boring or there are more interesting things going on. Take The Pandorica Opens/The Big Bang, for example. I love that story to bits, but the Daleks were pointless in it. I think they should only be brought back if they're the main villain, and therefore the main focus of the episode. Think how terrified Nine was in 'Dalek' and 'Parting of the Ways', and then fast forward to Twelve being totally unbothered by them, even joking around with them. It just ruins their effect.

Goosebumps galore, even to this day. Doctor Who, Torchwood, and The Sarah Jane Adventures, all in one HUGELY AMBITIOUS episode. An incredible crossover event with returning companions and friends from all 3 shows, incredible music from Murray Gold, high stakes that feel genuinely epic and horrifying, even shots that remind you of their respective shows (that classic Torchwood pan and zoom-in at 3:00 always makes me grin) and all with Davros and the Daleks no less! Add to that a SHOCKER of a cliffhanger in the days where nobody spoiled it beforehand, and you have easily one of the most exciting finales of any show in history. "Calling...THE DOCTOR". What I liked about this scene is that even though some people hadn't met each other till then they all had a common goal of contacting the Doctor. I also admired how each respective show played a part in doing that so no one person outshined the other from Harriet Jones bringing everyone together, Martha sending the phone number, Mr. Smith connecting all mobile phones, and Torchwood boosting the signal through the rift. Harriet certainly redeemed herself here even though it also caused her demise. I hadn't liked her beforehand then.

I love how this still makes logical sense in the doctor who universe. The rift can (and has) sent things through time as well as space, so that signal would transmit from that point in the medusa cascade at every point in time simultaneously. Thats why the doctor could pick it up while he was 1 second out of sync from all of the planets.

The only thing about this clip is that it leaves out the minutes before that I think shows how powerful a moment this was. Torchwood just heard the Valiant going down, and Jack thinks its all over. Harriet Jones's voice tries to cut through all of the static in the worldwide radio chatter, and Gwen (or was it Ianto?) hears her and tries to figure out who's calling. Jack, out of hope, says its just some lost soul calling for help - and Harriet, hearing him and having none of it says "Captain Jack Harkness, stand at attention, sir!" This yanks him out of his despair, and starts to pull the "Children of Time" as Davos later calls them together.

Probably because Sarah Jane was the only one who still related to the extraterrestrial issue in a more direct way.

If they hadn't banded together and pool their resources all would have been lost and ended in complete destruction and annihilation. It showed what working united together in times of crisis can accomplish. A lesson we should always be reminded about every now and then.

This story line and the Martha story line when the master comes back are my favourite story lines. The subwave network is never used again btw or Torchwood or Sarah Jane 😂 oh well

That’s why i hate Rose. Sarah Jane was a companion lot before than Rose but she didn’t even said she was Doctor’s former companion.

Best crossover ever rate: *1.* Infinity War. *2.* Arrowverse (Crisis on earth X) *3.* Doctor Who, Sarah Jane Smith, Torchwood. Sorry, but we all know it’s true. 🤷🏻♂️
