I had been a huge fan of Tori in the 90s, and for some reason, I kind of lost her. Man, what a loss for me. I heard this song on a reaction video and didn't love it immediately, but I couldn't get rid of it. It stayed with me. Then I looked up the story of the song, and I started to tear up. My husband, at 39, had a cva/stroke, and this brilliant guy, who has an MBA in marketing and taught software training across the world, developed aphasia. The ache in this song is so familiar. I adore her and this song.

I've never & will never hate anything you produce. I've only heard this song twice, already stuck in my head. I think some people forget that artists are supposed to evolve, not produce the same sounds over & over. Fuck them. I've cherished every album ever. They're like little sonic books filled with all the lessons you've taught, stories you've told, & myths you've modernized. They were all excellent gifts, & I can't wait to unwrap this one. Cheers to Tori!!

EXACTLY!! I see a lot of whining about how it's not the same piano ballad here & on Facebook. Guess what? We ALL change. Can any of these whiners honestly say that they are the same as they were 10 years ago? 20 years ago? I evolved from 20 to 30 to nearly 40 now. If I were writing music, my songs would all represent different stages in my life. Do these people really expect Tori Amos (or any artist) to never change? How silly...

I love that I don't love Tori's new songs immediately. I love that she's enough of an artist to challenge me, to challenge herself, to work for it, and to make me work for it. It's not that it isn't good. It's that it's different from what she's done before, and that's a good thing. That being said, this melody and instrumentation are beginning to sweep me away, and I'm extremely excited for the rest of the album to do the same. Not to mention that the message in this song is exactly what I need at this fucking crazytown juncture in America's history. We ARE gonna ride out this storm. I hope Tori means it when she says she's not going anywhere soon. 'Cause I need you, girl.

This glorious, soulful Lady has helped me endure so many storms since I first heard her at the age of 19 in 1996! Whether I endured male rape, Narcissism in all its ugly dresses, the tragic death of a partner far before his time, or the enduring grace of respecting that life evolves and has to, I pay full respect to Tori and LOVE her evolution! Hugs to fellow Toriphiles out there. She's a Goddess and I'm deeply grateful that she followed Tash's advice to continue to "Rock", because she truly can! Let the haters hate - it says far more about them than it EVER will about Tori!

I really don't know why people have this awful behaviour of comparing a new artist's album with the old ones and being rude. She is not the same, she's changed, we've changed. There's an effort to produce and work on that. We dont need to say it's crap, awful. There's no obligation to love it, but please, give her a little respect, at least.

The room is open. But being critical is different of being hateful with words. Negativity harms everyone, no matter how it's spread. And that was my point. warmth!

you make perfect sense. Respect Tori. She a human with feelings and we all deserve respect. Who wants to stay in a time capsule and never evolve or strive to be different from who they were last week for better or worse? Let them limit themselves - limited minds must remember "if you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all"
@60leebee5 жыл бұрын
If Tori didn't change up her music from album to album she would have had a very short career. I agree; it is absurd to expect a recording artist to release albums that sound pretty much identical. The fans would get bored and the artist would starve.

When she say she saw a shooting star at 422am I believe she is referring to an angel, because the number 422 is an angelic number and as several different meanings one of these is that the number 422 symbolizes having faith in oneself. And if you serve to others the universe will reward and blessed you.

In my opinion, this is one of her best tracks. I've enjoyed a lot of her recent material and "Unrepentant Geraldines" is a solid effort that didn't receive enough attention. If I had to pick my favorite Tori album it would definitely be "American Doll Posse." I'm anxious to hear "Native Invader" in its entirety because if "Cloud Riders" & "Up the Creek" are any indication, the new album stands to cover a lot of new and interesting ground.
