After battling depression for years, I finally understand what this song is about on a level I never had in the past. Lucifer Is in all of us, When we let the darkness take over and we become overwhelmed with sadness we become like this character. It's not a scary thing or demonic thing, its a tragic thing. Lucifer is a tragic character lonely and an outcast. It's about overcoming your negative feelings and not letting them hold you down, but also understanding negative feelings are necessary for positive feelings to exist. If you would understand the yin and yang symbol you would know that there is a good and a evil force in this universe. Thats a fact. And together it is complete. I think an artist like Tori Amos understands this much better than most other people. She is neither a satanist nor a christian she just sees the whole thing!
