I quite like the extended version when we get to here, "I go from day to day, I know where the cupboards are, I know where the car is parked, I know he isn't you." Equating your acceptance of a loss of someone dear to you to something as obvious and pedestrian as where the cupboards are. Chilling.

+Speed General17776sg Starting at approximately 03:09, the counterpoint melody "Hoo Hoo..." almost exact same notes as the Purple Rain chorus. Listen to this part, then Purple Rain, then listen to this again, I think you'll hear it. I don't know that she herself has ever explicitly pointed the similarity out, but since Prince was a major influence, I always understood this to be a wink and a nod at him...

I couldn't have put it better. You're damn right. Been listening to this as part of my everyday/special-occasion/themed playlists (well, mostly cassettes) since it came out, and it's NEVER lost that chilling perfection that makes your spine hum and your eyes water (especially that one part where it's JUST HER, that is absolutely HAUNTINGLY beautiful and somehow incredibly heart-wrenching), or the ability to make me feel... I don't know, something. I've always kinda semi-jokingly referred to music as my "emotional proxy" (due to certain wiring in my brain that makes it... difficult to feel much of anything, myself; yet somehow the right music can make me "normal" for a while) and this one never fails. I don't know WHAT I'm feeling most of the time, especially with Tori Amos, but it's something, and it's intense, and I would be so much less without it. (Another favourite and dependable one of mine, a kind of Mood Leveller™ and immediate mental transport back to my teens in the 90s, is Novocaine For The Soul, by The Eels.)

Aside from her obvious talents that make Tori a little extra something in the music industry, her outward beauty has always been a plus for her album art. She makes for an excellent subject with a sensational smile, natural feminine features, and the most beautiful red hair I've ever noticed on anyone. I've always thought she was a knock out. But I must say in this video her wholesome innocent persona seems to have changed to a not so innocent young lady, but a stunning creature that stirs my senses of everything. What a woman. ❤

After all of these years, this song still tears at my heart. Sad that there are no women artists like Tori Amos anymore. Nowadays, music is all about cheap nudity and hooking up in clubs and such. Especially from women artists, it's all about the cleavage and skanky clothing. They dare call it "female empowerment". It's not. Just another name for the world's oldest profession: prostitution. There is no longer subliminal, surrealistic art in music like Tori Amos anymore. Sad.
