Tori is the finest of wines.... she's become even more incredible, more perfect with age. She's not for everyone, perhaps- but for those who know, she's a rare gem and an amazing soul.

I honestly can’t name an artist who understands - and can articulate - the human condition as well as Tori does. I haven’t followed her music in years, but I really admire what she’s saying here, particularly in regard to women allowing themselves to change their minds.
@DavidMichaelCommer8 жыл бұрын
+TayInTheWay If you had stopped following her before "Night of Hunters" came out, give it a listen. It was largely overlooked because it was seen as an exercise/pastiche of classical music, but it's thoroughly Tori Amos, and for me, it stands beside Boys for Pele and Scarlet's Walk as an artistic masterpiece--as you say, by articulating the human condition...and throughout time and physical and spiritual evolution, no less. She's an artist, and I think that's why she's such an odd fit for the music industry, which is (I mean this objectively, not as a judgment) more about creating products for mass consumption than putting artistic expression into the world as she does.

She never failed to amaze me. So wise and talented and, for lack of a better word, original. No matter how mundane or rude the questions, this artist always manages to steer the conversation back to what matters. Everyone needs to recognize Tori Amos for the genius that she is.

She actually has worn a glittery "onesie" on stage during her 2007 tour ... in fact that was a staple theme of the tour costumes in 2007.

Awesome interview. Just started listening to Tori over the past week for the first time in a while, including her older and newer songs. She's one of the very few musical artists that have NOT sold their souls for money. Wish some of the other musical artists could say the same thing.

Why does the interviewer try to draw a comparison between Tori Amos today and young kids in modern pop culture. Its ridiculous. Even at their age she was never part of that, always edgy and doing her own thing. Amos has always elevated above mainstream.

I love this. such a passionate, creative, artist! and she's not crazy. so the idea to be an original outspoken artist has to be crazy to reach such brilliant limits is a untrue. wow what an example! She seems so kind, honest and true. what she sings is the truth on so many levels!
@chrisadams19969 жыл бұрын
lynn Flynn she is too crazy! thats whyi love her!
@DavidMichaelCommer8 жыл бұрын
+lynn Flynn If you've seen videos of her early in her solo career, she sometimes presented as (arguably) "crazy," or at least zany (see the Boys for Pele EPK)--and I say that with love--but she's completely down to earth today. I interviewed her back in 2008 and actually had to listen back to the recording and look up a lot of information in order to even understand many of her esoteric references. I interviewed her again recently, and her spirit is exactly the same, but she now always presents herself in a thoughtful, deliberate, sage sort of way. She reminds me of Maya Angelou in a lot of ways: when she speaks, people either tend not to have the patience to listen, or they hang on every word Tori says because they're all carefully chosen and actually important and worth hearing. People have so many notions about who Tori Amos is. Having watched countless interviews and having had the opportunity to interview her twice myself, she is such a rare creature in that, unlike so many other artists or public figures, her brilliant creative works are actually matched by her gorgeous generosity of spirit and unique ability to articulate what's important.

I have two thoughts from this video. 1) Normal people, regardless of gender, don't wake up in the morning with the intention of being wrong. Maturity is changing what you are doing should you realize it is wrong. Pettiness is forcing someone to apologize for who they used to be, again - regardless of gender. Those with criminal intent are of course another matter. 2) I hear the complaint about how society places too much pressure on women keeping themselves "beautiful" which lends to them eating right, drinking right, exercising right, etc. However, men are found attractive based on their self-destruction - hence their graying, wrinkled, pot-bellied selves are merely extensions of that wear and tear from pushing beyond their limits to prove they are worth keeping and using. I love Tori Amos, she expresses a wonderful perspective in a most artistic way.

Tori's always interesting and fun to listen to, but I still can't get over plastic surgery and botox overdose. She always had a somewhat unique face, with strong features that would have aged well. Then - Marshmallow Woman. :(

fuck off who are u 2 judge another human?
@sar29729 жыл бұрын
***** The puffy face has to do with fillers. I don't think it's right to judge somebody for how they are coping with aging. I feel like the only reason she is judged for her cosmetic procedures is because it does look somewhat off. If she looked like Christie Brinkley nobody would bat an eye and everyone would be saying how great she looks. So ironically, the one's judging her are the vain ones.
@spwhitephotoshop9 жыл бұрын
Scorpion1957 Tori is a Women, who found fame in Prime, with that comes all the trappings, Make up, Photoshoots and media glare. So much attention and Praise. The Vanity factor because of that would be alot greater than the average Woman. And plus the pressures of looking good for the masses.

I enjoyed the dialog. No judgements here. Bravo, I missed her artistry. However the girl interviewing her kept mentioning her age! Why? She is timeless! We are to hung up on age relevance! You can be relevant at 15 or 115 look at grandma Moses, Julia Child Tina Turner these timeless women got their start later in life or restart for Tina. You go Tori do your thang! !
