Amazing in the sense that there was no apparent indication within this music video of the latent depth of talent that later made itself known. There must have been a moment of lucidity for her which could only have come from failure....and this did deserve to fail despite her immense talent.

thank god she did not go this route. if "y kant tori read" had been successful we would've never had the tori we know & love. that album flopping is the best thing that ever happened to her.

In the long run: True. She was good at this and pulled it off with ease, but we would have probably never experienced this "other Tori" that we know.

How can we know that for sure? Her heart was in her later style, and maybe if Y Kant Tori Read had been successful, she'd have been able to leverage that into calling more shots and then been allowed to change the band sound to her own style. Or the label may have demanded more "rock chick" music but she'd have said no and quit to start over. But we can't know for sure.
