I love the way you pointed out how Tori can hold a note with her forever vibrato, which is something I loved about Karen. You're also right about her sounding like ... herself. She's said herself that she doesn't think she sounds like Karen. Her nuances are definitely from being a fan of Karen. For example, she'll do vocal fries like Karen. But Karen had more overtones and a more cutting sound, whereas Tori has a round sound. This distinguishes her also from Olivia, who had a breathier sound. She has an original, "Something to Believe In." She also has another song that Richard couldn't do with Karen because she had passed before he could do it, so he produced it with Dusty Springfield. That one was called, "Something in Your Eyes."

Hi Momma, Yes, she captures the spirit of Olivia well. She’s done a bunch of shorts but not Xanadu, yet? Magic & Sam are two highlights but a lot more. She has two originals and one self written in production. One is a Christmas song the other was written in the spirit of Bacharach/Carpenters so who else should be given the song? They will come in the next groups if you desire. The next one up is an anomaly. It’s the song Karen never sang. Richard cowrote it but Karen passed before even hearing it. Dusty Springfield sang the song with Richard in 1987. Tori is helping us imagine what it might have been like if Karen sang it. Tori performed this at the Carpenters 55th Anniversary. She was the only performer to sing a technically “not” a Carpenters song. You asked about modern. Well the two originals were 2023 and 2024. She also as a short covered her take on a 2023 song by this new upstart group; The Beatles, Now and Then. 🤷🏻‍♂️ She did just do a Tori version of a new song. She did a Short mashup of Sabrina Carpenter’s “Coincidence” and Joni’s “Big Yellow Taxi” which has been driving me crazy recently. It’s a short so not a spoiler, I’ll link it below.
