Native Instruments releases RAZOR 1.5 update and limited-time sales special
Berlin, November 21, 2013 -- Native Instruments today announced a new major update for RAZOR -- the innovative, highly popular additive synthesizer designed for tense basses, bristling leads and shifting, sci-fi soundscapes. The 1.5 update adds significant new sounds and effects to the cutting edge instrument along with a new macro system for unparalleled integration with MASCHINE 2.0. The update is free for current owners while new customers can purchase RAZOR 1.5 for half price until December 9th, 2013.
With RAZOR 1.5, 12 new modules add increased sonic flavour. Eight different dissonance modules range from frequency modulation to metallic frequency stretching and pitch manipulation. A new multimode filter offers unusual shapes for irregular filtering and adventurous sound design. Two stereo effects, a dynamics effect, and one distortion module also allow for a wealth of sonic possibilities. As the creative engine behind RAZOR, maverick Berlin producer Errorsmith once again leaves his signature, expanding the dynamic and precise RAZOR sound.
RAZOR 1.5 also features seamless integration with the new MASCHINE 2.0 software. A new compact performance view condenses essential preset parameters into a focused window and maps key parameters directly to the eight MASCHINE control knobs. Multiple parameters are easily assignable to each macro control knob offering a wealth of intuitive workflow enhancements. What's more, over 100 additional presets take full advantage of these macros.
Existing users of RAZOR can download the update for free from the Service Center. New customers can take advantage of a limited time sales special to get RAZOR for 50% of the standard price. The offer lasts until December 9, 2013 and is available at the NI Online Shop.

Torley believes an instrument should be awesomely playable from the start, and uses PROJECT PRESET to highlight the craft of instrument + sound designers.
== Rules ==
1. Never skip a sound within the focused area. (Exceptions include template setups and other "specialty banks".)
2. Play sounds you have never heard before, so your first reactions are documented on camera. (Exception: practice/warmup to gain familiarity with a new tool.)
3. Only feature tools you have or will use in actual productions to set a positive example for the electronic music community. Thinking you can do something is trumped by actually doing it every time.

Hey Torley, do you have Razor running into any eq or compression in the host, or did you process the audio of the video after the fact? I went though the same presets and played the same tunes and mine always sounded so flat and hollow compared to the video, its very concerning to think my d/a or amplifier on my audio interface is the culprit. I even tried several sound cards both internal and external.

13:25 What is "detuning"? Is it the effect of a sound going off pitch (usually down) as the note fades out in the release phase of an envelope? As the virtual string loses energy, somehow it's pitch changes?

Torley, I've got a huge problem! I've seen your videos using East West Quantum Leap sound libraries, and I've got a question for you. So I jus bought EWQLSO and EWQL Strings (Both Silver) and my DAW is FL Studio. When I open PLAY and open a sound, I can only hear the sound if I click on something other then the PLAY window; A.K.A. I can't tweak the sound live without constantly clicking back and forth between the FL background and the PLAY window. Do you know how to fix this?

Wow, just imagine if Beethoven had this, what he could have done with it. I am also reminded that The Lord gives gifts to man at the perfect moment in history producing the intended conclusion and was actually never intended to have such tools in the first place. It takes a closer look seeing that this in itself might have been detrimental in the creation of pieces given solely to the masters. If I may, my opinion is that these "tools" are in fact a great breakthrough yet have a decided "Achilles heel." Looking to a more recent scenario, Bands like Pink Floyd etc...because of the lack of such tools were forced/driven to, imo, a deeper place of creativity. They had no other choice but to go to those deep places within themselves and we are the benefactors of their pursuits. Don't get me wrong, this offers such a wide, versatile, palette from which to create from but, as all things are I suppose, is a double edged sword. I feel for most, not all trust me, allow themselves the luxury of given material and never venture into those deeper places of themselves to glean full potential of who they are and neglect to tap the full measure of their worth being that it much easier to have a provided score to draw from. A good example is Star Wars, the tech was not there to produce the vision of George Lucas and company so they had to draw within themselves to create it and thus the end result was worthty of the title "groundbreaking" for such that it was. Sorry, lol I just sort of took off there...:I
