I bought myself a T7 last year with both kits and have to say it's the very best sharpening system I have ever came across. I am a professional toolmaker by trade and take a great delight in the quality,accuracy and keenness of edge I get with it. What has to be appreciated is the extra joy and satisfaction an accurately sharpened and shaped gives to turning.

We are lucky enough to have one of Nick's Trilobite bowls. Just wonderful.

Hello Nick, As a lover of wood and a mad keen turner of questionable ability I enjoyed this video. At the moment I'm very interested in spiralling and texturing as well as colouring so I've been following you faithfully. Among the wood turning community you are considered a great artist and someone who we all aspire to. Best wishes, Alan.

I love watching this video, done it many times. It gives me inspiration. Nick is a great woodturner and artist, a good teatcher, and also a great man.

So when will Tormek be selling Polo Shirts with the Stay Sharp! and Company name on the sleeve? I love my Tormek 8 and it's great to discuss it with other woodworkers. It would also be great advertising for the company.

Very neat! Do you not need to worry about honing the inside curves on the carving and turning chisels?

What kind of wood is that? I have some smaller pieces of the same stuff and it cracks most of the time. I'm referring to the big bowl when you were demonstrating the sharpening.

firstly thank you great way u come across + interesting to see the skill. 2 things, u don't suppose u can show sharpening a gooseneck scraper & I've no longer got a place for my lathe, what would u recommend for doing smallish bowls that fits in a tiny place ? thanks
@TormekSharpening7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment Neill. For a gooseneck scraper, you can use the SVD-110 Tool Rest, here's a video of the jig: kzbin.info/www/bejne/haSZk4x6Yt98f9U However, you won't be able to sharpen the inside of the scraper, due to the shape. Hope this gave you some clarity. Good luck!

Every video on using these jigs have to remove the tool holder and turn it around to use the hone. Why not make a holder that spans both the grinding wheel and leather wheel so you only have to go from one to the other and only make the adjustment for wheel size? Better yet, make the honing wheel diameter the same as the grinding wheel so you don't need to tweak it.

Nick, I always sharpen things towards the cutting edge it seems to work pretty well and that was how I was shown to do it by someone that had a sharpening business.. question, and in no way am I being disrespectful, why do you sharpen your tools away from the cutting edge?
