Here’s my emergency kit for storms. Goal here is to have enough supplies for a few days without power. Email: AndyMcKinley@ohblade.com

Nice kit man! I would personally add a backpack with 1 set of clothes for each family member and 2 small blankets for the kids vacuum sealed. We all know how unforgiving a tornado is and in worst case scenario I think the clothes would help. Hope for the best but prepare for the worst.

Thanks man, great suggestion! We had talked about adding a change of clothes and shoes but hadn’t done it yet. That’s on the list!

Tornado and storm emergency kit and you have solar panel.... only in america. 100 Dumb lvl
@OhioBladeandCutlery2 жыл бұрын
Storms have a tendency to knock power out. You can’t imagine why you’d want a solar panel to charge your phones, etc on the aftermath?? Really???

Even when it rains a lot, I’ve never seen it rain all day every day for weeks. There are always breaks

Good vid. Really good kit. I would recommend that you make smaller kits within, rather than having things here and there - for example, all your cooking stuff, medical stuff together.

Thanks man, that’s a good suggestion. Definitely going to reorganize the cases.

I'm experiencing a Tornado Warning, this very second where I live in NC. I live in a larger mobile home and I have my bug out bag and plan ready. My heart is pounding, but I am prepared. Just watching your vid quick to see if I missed anything and keep myself busy.

Thoughts while watching: 1) I like the light on the lid - good idea. 2) I'm skeptical of the "water drops?" until tested. 3) If you are recovering from a storm, you should NOT be walking around barefooted!! Get some decent boots. 4) That's a pretty large pot. Have you tested how many fuel tabs it will take to bring that whole pot to a boil? 5) Have you taste-tested the freeze-dried meals? Will your family even eat it? How many calories per person, per day do they provide? Are you sure it's enough? 6) Fire starters you can eat? WTF? 7) Have you tested the solar charging system? 7) Have you taken any training for how to treat trauma in the field? 8) The kukri helps in a "grid-down situation" how, exactly? 9) One bivy bag. What are the rest of them going to sleep in? 10) Do the plants on that hankie grow in your area? Have you identified which ones do? Can you make positive IDs on any of them by looking? 11) Dude, the CARDS are not edible. 12) Have you tested the Barro Cook? 13) How many gallons will the water tabs purify? 2 gal per person per day? 14) One "trap" - whatever that thing is - is not a back up plan to feed a family. - These are all questions you should ask yourself. Start with the basics. What are the most likely disaster scenarios? Tornado? Flood? Fire? Will I bug in, or out? Maybe both? What supplies will I need if I have to repair storm damage to my home? If I have to remove fallen trees? Each family member should have his or her own bag with sturdy, seasonally appropriate clothes, bedding, hygiene kit and basic supplies, and be able to carry it easily (backpack). Do I have enough food that we will actually eat, that will provide enough calories to enable us to do the required work, or travel on foot if necessary. (72-hour kits are typically woefully under budget when it comes to calories! Also, you said one pouch makes 16 servings...what are you going to do with the other 12 servings until you need them?) Do I have enough water if we bug in, and enough purifying capability if we bug out? Are we equipped to move light and fast if required? What abo0ut shelter outside your residence? There are MANY more questions, but you get the idea. Take a few steps back and make a real plan, then buy the best quality gear you can afford, and actually use it and test it and become familiar with its pros and cons. Good luck.

My guy, those are playing cards with pictures of edible plants. These are not cards made from edible plants. Kinda like a hot rod card deck isn't made of hot rods, only pictures of cars. Follow the bottom warning on the back of the box.

Battlbox is a good place to use as a source to provide some good gear for your kits. Got to a point for me where it got redundant or I was only keeping a couple of items from the box. Love Battlbox, but I'm so over loaded with gear now that I cancelled my sub to Battlbox. Thanks for the show of your setup.

Thanks, I had the same issue. I was getting so much stuff, I was forgetting what I had and didn’t have. I still need to organize these crates a bit better so I’ll do an update soon. Thanks for the comment!

What are the Ammo crates made of? Can you add reflective tape to the outside so that it shows up in the dark or if the power is out? Have you found organizing items into modules helpful? Do you find it easier to keep clothing and shoes for each family member packed separately?
@OhioBladeandCutlery2 жыл бұрын
They are made of a heavy duty plastic and have a o-ring seal to keep them water tight. Reflective tape is a great idea, I’ll have to add that. Also, I have been organizing the items into modules as you suggested (food, fire, water, etc). I’ll do an update video soon. And yes, we keep a separate backpack for each family member with their clothes and shoes.
