Used to I would go out and storm chase in "the jungle" here in southern KY plus at that time being a volunteer firefighter I would go out to part of the fire district and run lights and siren to warn people and using the public address system on my siren to holler out the warning also

I got stuck in a Target once during a tornado warning. They put us in the back with the pillows and blankets and gave us water and snacks. It was about 45 minutes that we were in there.

The scariest storm I've ever been in was when I was about 13 years old (I'm now 37) & I was at school (in the UK). Our school had a part that was really tall for the history classrooms & we were at the top of a hill. So our history classroom was really vulnerable. Plus, our school up that high was mainly glass in metal frames! Suddenly, the sky went pitch black & it became like night time at about 9:30am! All of a sudden, it was back to back lightening & thunder & the glass shook in the windows! My classmate who was sitting next to me kept grabbing on to me absolutely terrified! Our teacher tried to keep going with the lesson, but it was way too distracting. I'd never experienced anything like it before & I've never experienced anything like it since! With all the metal frames in the building & the building being so high up, it's a miracle our classroom never got struck my lightening! Yes, I know tornadoes are much worse, but if you'd had the chance to see what I'm talking about, it would be clear why it was so terrifying!

I live in Atlanta and we had a few tornado warnings yesterday. I teach swim lessons in an indoor pool and all the sudden I looked outside and the trees were bent sideways and the sirens started going off! I had three 3 year olds in the pool with me and 1 scooped them all up and ran out of the pool. By far one of the scariest moments I have had teaching! Glade that you guys made it out okay, praying for everyone who didn't.
