Tornado Warned Thunderstorm Brings Strong Winds and Heavy Rain - Belvidere, IL - 4/30/22

Chased a slight risk/5% tornado risk in northern Illinois on April 30th, 2022. Tornado watches and warnings were issued, and a few tornadoes were reported in the region. This video contains footage of a severe thunderstorm which briefly went tornadic and produced a short-lived, rain-wrapped EF-0 tornado near Timberlane, IL, just a few miles from our location, shortly after we intercepted it. Footage taken near Belvidere, IL.

I used to live in Belvidere back in the day. Now I live in Rockford. Maybe this is why I don't remember watching any thunderstorm on this day.

It’s sad that the Apollo Theatre in downtown Belvidere was destroyed by this tornado and ended up killing one person. Weather is beautiful, but it can take an instant to cause permanent damage
