Trains at: Stafford, WCML, 25/01/2020, Part 1/2

A very cold but enjoyable first part to the day spent at Stafford on the West Coast Mainline where we see plenty of services from London Northwestern Railway, Avanti West Coast, Cross Country and freight from Freightliner, GBRF and DRS.
Stafford station is a fairly large station and I used as a junction station for traffic travelling all over the country. Services from this station serve Manchester, Liverpool, Crewe and stations to the South of England. There are two lines meeting at this station, the main branch of the West Coast Mainline that goes via the Trent Valley and the second section that takes the line through the heart of Birmingham which allows for greater connections from Birmingham New Street.
The station was opened by the Grand Junction Railway in 1837. This was the first station to be built on the site, however it soon became inadequate because of the amount of passengers and trains using the station which then meant that a second station was built in 1844 which was then superseded by another station in 1862. Eventually all three getting replaced by the current station in 1962 to follow the modernisation of the West Coast Mainline. Since my time here last year nothing has changed at the station. But it was fantastic nevertheless.

A problem solving tactic, if the front train of the coupled set was the only one with defective windscreen, couldn't the rear set reattach (if in optimal performance conditions) and reverse to some points, then the points switch as such that it will couple with the Northampton-Crewe Service. Therefore the passenger density on the train will be suitable and not be standing room. Another strategy is that from the beginning, they got an 8 car set instead of a 4 car set. First the the train is delayed due to defective windscreen or equipment (that can be forgiven) but they bring a 4 car train when passengers are expecting it to be a 8 car all the way. (That is on the edge on unforgiving as there was no careful thought or planning to this delay) But then again, that is just my opinion. Feel free to share your views. :)

Why aren’t avanti painting the voyagers

Avanti are replacing the voyagers and will be cascaded to Cross country which makes sense as routes i.e Bournemouth to Manchester route could do with extra trains. The replacements are (in a slightly gruntled and pessimistic voice) the 800s. They are good but the epicness HSTs, Adelantes, and 91s or any BREL train will never be replaced.

A flat wheel is where the wear on a wheel isn't even, so instead of it being perfectly round you start getting flat areas of the wheel which causes that clunking noise
