INSANE footage of multiple powerful tornadoes that tore through Oklahoma during the May 9, 2016 outbreak. This video easily makes it into our personal Top 5 Tornado Videos as the incredibly powerful Wynnewood EF-4 tornado ripped across the road 1/4 mile in front of us, tossing power poles down and throwing an entire tree across the road! Footage includes the extreme, close-range Katie / Wynnewood tornado, the Sulphur rain-wrapped wedge, a white elephant trunk tornado as it roped out, and close-range Hugo tornado as it tore though town.

At 2:27, the tornado almost looks like it's defying the laws of physics, the way it's throwing things across the road at such a high rate of speed. It just looks like something that's not supposed to happen, that's supposed to be impossible. It's almost like the trees and debris were shot out of a cannon or something. I've seen a similar shot from basehunters and Dick McGowan's channels and every time I see it, the only thing I can say is "wow". If you slow it down to 0.25%, it looks like a "regular" tornado, like something I've seen in a thousand other videos, but when played at full speed, it's simply nuts. It's crazy to know that things like that can happen. This is a terrifying storm and an amazing video, thanks for sharing.

Great job guys! This might be one of the best up close and personal video depicting the violence and destruction that occurs at ground level during a twister of this magnitude. Many don't often get to see it. They are the fortunate ones. For those of us who have, we know that video cannot even begin to accurately depict how incredibly powerful and destructive they are to sound structures when they are caught in the path of them. Many chasers are not in sync with one another or, theyll have 5 people piled into a vehicle with only 2 knowledgeable enough to accurately read the storm and make the appropriate decision to remain relatively safe while the other 3 only think they are knowledgeable and often bicker and criticize each other for their reactions or over reaction to witnessing catastrophe. At times their fighting is entertaining but often I find it annoying and immature. You guys just flow with each other and the style you record with is awesome. You're passion shows and I appreciate that. Definitely thos video is in my top 5 of up close and personal tornado videos that show the destruction at the base. Thanks guys and be safe out there if y'all still chasing!

Far be it from me to tell anyone how to do their job. Today people are getting entirely too close to the behemoths. They can and do change directions at a moments notice. They are unpredictable to say the least. These reasons are why I think that injury and death tolls are going to start rising soon from people trying to get as close as they can. That up close up picture will do no one any good if the photographer and chaser are injured or dead.
@eighthturtle

El Reno is an example of a tornado suddenly changing direction. It started out heading toward the south east for a while but then turned and headed northeast. That's part of the reason the chasers who died got caught.

Back in 2007 I was a semi truck driver heading back into northern Utah to get another load. I had an empty trailer and my truck was governed right at 65 mph. So I'm clipping along north bound on I-15 and I'm passing many of these little dust devils on each side of the street. Freaky little things. Then as I get down the road a bit further U feel something tugging at my trailer so I look into my side.mirror. one of those dust devils had grown in size to over 50 feet in diameter and was chasing my truck straight up I-15!!! It was literally picking up the back end of my trailer and setting it down in the other lane and there was now way to out run it! This went on for a few miles and several times I almost flipped over and crashed. At that point only God knows why I didn't! But then just as fast as it started the dang thing turned right and went up to the mountain base and just sat there spinning in one spot again! Granted that was an itty bitty tornado but it was powerful enough to pick up a 10000 pound trailer with ease. Just imagine what some of these storm chasers end up in!!! Freaky stuff right there. That's be enough to make me.poop my britches!!!

It's definitely limited. During the chase, our primary camera--the one mounted to the windshield--malfunctioned. It was only after the fact that we realized that our best camera never recorded. Luckily we had several handheld backup cameras rolling. It's not the best footage, but in the end we're glad we had something to share from the chase.

@WickedTornado this is going to sound like a conspiracy theory but some of this crazy weather we have been having over the past 2 decades is man made. HAARP and CERN can both modify the weather at will. That being said there are also a ton of other factors that come into play which include all the normal stuff that causes them as well. Pole shift plays a big part in the electromagnetcs and gravitational movement as well. It even effects flight instruments and the jet stream currents directions. But in all of this I have to say that I think they are getting bigger and stronger from the past few decades till now. Moore, Oklahoma saw one that was 2.6 miles wide and many others recently have been over 1 mile wide. As a kid back in the 60s and 70s those were unheard of.

@@leaf2180 Ummmm actually you are incorrect. Storms have been being manufactured since the early 1960s. Weather warfare has being used since that time. There are documentaries on it on KZbin. Look them up. Also look up HAARP and CERN and CHEMTRAILS because the storms are manufactured by seeding the clouds with certain gases and mineral elements and then electrified by HAARP. The US military used weather warfare against Vietnam and caused one of the worst catastrophes to ever come ashore there and it wiped out a huge population also in Cambodia. Look it up. Man made storms happen all the time.

@ 2:28 with that small road you can really get a sense of how enormous & powerful it is, a true monster. Then @ 2:43 they cut the shot during the best part of the entire video....good job.

I know it's an old post but which town was that you guys drove through? Great footage and looking forward to moving closer to the action now that I have my degree but looking for a good starting point, any suggestions on a home base starting point out there? And that town I do want to know which town that was.

It eerily looks like the dead man walking tornado that was described in an older document on the Jarrell, Texas F5 tornado on May 27, 1997. The tornado in this video looks like it has arms and legs. It is a good thing didn't hit a town dead on.
