Standing in the flooded waters can be as or more dangerous depending on how far inland as each has there own dangers...between Orange Beach and the rest of LA (lower Alabama) is a bay... a mix of salt fresh water...flooding a few miles inland will have mocassins with bad attitudes due to the storm, Alligators closer to the coast floodwaters could have Bull Sharks which are large sharks and frequent the shallows around the area (8-10ft+), jellyfish, mounds of ants floating which is a weird sight...occasionally will even run across the largest rattlesnake in the US, the Eastern Diamondback (larger than the iconic Western Diamondback which few realize)...in fact, a few years ago, during regular summer day someone filmed a large rattlesnake swimming in the gulf from the mainland to I think was Dauphin island..was posted to YT... so many dangers during and after storms which haven't mentioned the worst of them all...the people who prey on people who vacated by breaking into homes, businesses, etc...probably not good idea to try in LA (Lower Alabama) or along Panhandle of Florida or will possibly be met with an owner who will not ask questions or provide a chance to leave...probably will be dropped if one foot on their property which is legal in Alabama (as should be everywhere IMO)...no one is there borrowing a cup of sugar if so, they best make their intentions known...Storms are remarkable to experience...anyone who has never experienced a Hurricane..driving rains, winds of 80-100+ mph sustained...meaning the wind doesn't stop blowing that strong for hours...bending every tree if not uprooting them...hour after hour after hour is an amazing display of mother natures power...even tropical storms will grab ur attention...a CAT 2 is about the highest worth risking riding out if along the coast..anything above Cat 2 foolish to be anywhere close...Mother Nature has a way of realigning perspectives (talking to you Oregon and West Coast)...Take care

I watched last night until ~330am...I live in Alabama and very familiar with these areas. Regardless, what Reed is doing @ the 3:20 time mark or so is blatantly negligent if not idiotic assuming the guy has a family, friends who care about him. His name is well known and I enjoy viewing his videos whether live or edited. I get the fact to earn money is to separate yourself from others through being in his case an "extreme meteorologist". HOWEVER, standing in the middle of a flooded highway and facing into 100-120mph winds, rain is unnecessary to bring us the same quality video..to provide to the viewer something to gauge the strength of the storm by...When winds reach 80-100 and especially over 100mph something as benign as a palmetto leaf stem being ripped away from a palmetto plant and hurled throw the air @ speeds potentially greater than 120mph turns the normally unassuming plant branch/stem into a lethal projectile...not to mention roofing, construction, broken glass shards, nails...basically becomes an IED, a continuous bomb blast in a way. I'm not trying to hate or be a jerk as I like the guy but also do not agree with placing himself more in danger than otherwise is needed by standing completely exposed in such a wide-open area...yet he is the expert and sure is asked about this issue often which I also assume he provides the predictable answer...I guarantee if the time comes he is connected to a ventilator with massive head trauma, ruptured lungs, loss of eye sight, etc and becomes conscious to know his family is surrounding him, shocked, not understanding why he felt the need to stand in the middle of the road with no protection...no military/law enforcement vests with metal plates, flak jackets and without a helmet or any protection of his torso, legs is just foolish...which he will quickly realize if such ever occurs to him...and he learns he will never be able to do this again and potentially never be with his family again but worse is knowing the absolute devastation his actions brought upon his family...if this was necessary I would get it & applaud or respect...but as someone who has faced life and death situations it wasn't done without absolute justification and reasoning...hell, being in his car with winds of 120mph and debris flying around is dangerous enough..especially near the coast itself...imagine if a wind gust or a tornado lifts the vehicle and tosses it upside down over the retaining wall into the tidal surge...SOL... I not attempting to provide negative vibes or focus on the negative simply emphasizing my wish for him to be as careful as possible so can continue to provide us this amazing coverage...what I don't need nor anyone else is to see a storm chaser taken out during a live stream when unnecessary...Hope my intent is not lost in my bluntness. Glad made it through safely last night...
