That is the best leaf blower review I've seen in quite a long time. It shows the blower being used for what it's supposed to be used for, and it shows that it does its job, yep, that blower does what its supposed to do. I'm glad that there is more walking the walk instead of talking the talk. :D

You have a gift for reviewing a garden tool! By far, this is the best review I have ever seen for garden tools / leaf blower. Step by step, every feature displayed in action. Well done and thanks.

I also have a this model Toro and what I do is just lay it down in the center of the yard and then rake the leaves into the vacuum tube. My yard is fairly small and this method works well for me. I have had a couple of different blowers/mulchers over the years and the Toro 51619 is the best one I've had.
@FoxRivers7786 жыл бұрын
Well, that certainly takes the strain off the back which is what happens with the normal method. Does it pick up faster and clog less this way?

I would have liked to see more on vacuuming and mulching instead of so much on blowing.

What they need is vacuum nozzle that is shaped to fit between the rails of a cattle guard. Since a cattle guard is a hole covered by steel pipes which are spaced to prohibit a cow from trying to walk on it, there is a problem of it being too heavy to lift and a hole that tends to fill in with leaves. It needs to be vacuumed out every year to maintain the hole. This should be a simple, easy solution if there was an appropriate shaped vacuum nozzle.

I agree with the review 100% also you have to be very careful with the zippers if twigs or parts of leaves get caught up in zippers fail very easily

I'm surprised how good it is for an electric. Great for drying off the cars, post wash. I also noticed how heavy it seems to get. Good machine.

I see you have secured the extension cord in the blower's built in cord lock. Not sure what gauge extension cord you are using but I would be hard pressed to bend and insert any cord over 16 gauge into the cord lock. The manual calls for a 14 gauge cord for this blower. I purchased an "S" clip cord connector instead.

@Andrew Kinsman I would say if you have the needles falling on concrete pathways, driveways, or very flat/level terrain, the oscillating nozzle would help to some extent. However, if it's out in grassy terrain, I probably would just stick with the 51619. The power nozzle did the best in that test. As for shred ring, I would imagine it would fair better than the pine needles seen in the video, but don't expect those slightly fatter needles to turn into confetti. Stick with the 51619.

Thank You for the Review! Very Comprehensive! I loved how you tested the product in a wide range of scenarios. It seems like vacuuming those pine needles is like the equivalent of vacuuming hair. It clumps together and it really doesn't break apart. I can live with that. I'm attempting to clean up goat head weeds and sucking up their seeds. Hopefully this can do the trick.

i own this. get the one with the metal mulching blade. it will handle very wet leaves but at a slower rate or it gets clogged. you can pick up dry leaves by hand at a much faster pace (3x or 4x faster) then mulching with this. it is very good as a blower.

Excellent in depth review. I love that you went above and beyond to show the pine needle demo. Do you have an update on this device and/or has since come across a better model? I have the Toro Vac/Blower with the plastic impeller and is on the market for an upgrade to something with better mulching capability. Thanks in advance for any tip!

Thanks for the review and for not trying to be a wannabe actor auditioning for a job doing commercials. It's important to hear the noise level of the machine. But I wish you hadn't sped up the vacuum/mulcher demonstration part since it's critical to know how quickly(or slowly) it vacuums up the leaves. From what I saw it's very very slow, and I'm going to look for a better way to shred leaves.

I just run the leaves over with mulching mower..might use something like this for corners where the mower can't reach.

I would love to see a video on how to convert , the blower to vacuum, and I have found it very difficult to get the inlet cover off , therefore I would love to use the vacuum ! But when it is time to convert it , I cant get off the inlet cover easely, I am scared that is I force it , then it will break ! so I never use the vacuum

Looks like the vacuum mode is only useful if you have 5x or 10x time-bending capabilities...

Thanks but I'm still torn between the Ultra & UltraPlus models. The main difference being that oscillating nozzle & the Shrredz-All Shread Ring. I can already tell now I probably don't need the nozzle but I wonder how much real world difference there is between having that ring & not having it. Toro claims it's 88% leaf reduction vs 97% with the ring but does that also mean it sucks up the leaves slower? I'd prefer faster suction over more finely shredded leaves.

Dear S/R I agree 100% w/?XV. Great review. Thanks for taking the time to go through all of the nozzles, leaves, needle and "road conditions" of your lawn. Certain areas of my property have large wood chips for mulch and some landscape stones. Would the TORO be strong enough to dislodge them [using the mulcher] suck them up the tube and ruin the unit? Most of my leaves are large, from avocado trees, but smaller ornamental tree leaves and small twigs as well. Again, many, many thanks!

I have a 51619 and the speed switch and on off went out(intermittent) Those Bastards at toro won't sell you any electrical parts so you can fix it. they want you to buy another one that has the same sorry ass switch in it. I am going to look for another brand more reliable or buy one with only an inn off switch. Buyer Beware!!!!!!!!!!!
@davesinformationchannel89108 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I know. Don't buy the aftermarket warranty. Well, for $12 I did and now when they want me to buy a new one, I will... with the warranty. I'm finding that searching for the best buy on the product and then putting the savings back into a warranty makes sense with many consumer electronics which have already been assigned a "useful lifespan" by the manufacturer. That means it's designed to last just shortly past the skimpy-assed factory warranty. My wife just snagged a new Kindle Fire when she dropped hers and broke the screen. (Well refurbished, but that's a whole other rant.) Anything with moving parts that will get heavy use or gets handled a lot meets my exception to the no extended warranty rule.

I have used this for 2 seasons. it is great for sucking leaves out of mulched areas or areas you dont want to rake but it would be much faster bag a pile of leaves by hand. maybe 4x faster. Also I cant recommend this because lots of dust from the mulched leaves escape where the bag connects to the blower and blow directly up into your face. over time the connection between bag and machine get more and more loose and the problem gets worse and worse.

Hello Side! Great review. I just got one for Christmas. The biggest complaint [the ONLY complaint I've read] is that 1 or 2 years after the purchase, the "speed controller" knob/dial stops working. Meaning that the variable speed control becomes useless and you are stuck with one speed only! Replacement parts are NOT available nor is the unit reparable. Your outta luck. Since your review is over 2 years old, have you had any problems with the variable speed control?? Many thanks for taking the time to respond!

@my2cents6166 жыл бұрын
How much does it weigh?
@RichLP16 жыл бұрын
@@my2cents616 9.6 lbs. Find a 10 lb. weight and repeatedly lift it from your waist to your chest and frequently hold it at chest level for 3-5 minutes then repeat lifts. Do this for 15-30 min.s to get a feeling for the work out this'll give you. Admittedly finding ways to use it resting it on my hip like mother with toddler has helped me find some relief vacuuming up leaves. The main reason I bought it. The problem is the two pieces provided to give it a four foot tube are just too long together and one is too short.
