You explained this and showed everything, so well. I really appreciate it. I have three older brothers, and one is a mechanic, and I hate to bug him all the time to work on my cars and mowers and whatever else. So, I am trying to learn some of this, for myself. So far, your video is the most detailed that I have seen. Thanks again. Now, I know I can do this on my own. I am learning so much from YT videos, on how to fix things. My neighbor just gave me a Toro mower that is in very good condition, however, I used it a couple times and it started acting up. I was worried about my gas, possibly being too old, and I am sure that was the problem. I figured it was either the air filter, fuel filter, or carburetor...now I know it is. It starts, but it won't stay running, now.

First thing to do is dump your fuel tank and storage tank/can

With your help, I successfully took the carb apart and cleaned it up, now it stays running strong! Turns out, there was a bunch of jelly-like crap in the bowl! It needed a cleaning!

Don’t add fuel conditioner Dump tank and run engine until it dies

Thanks, won't start, you got me to dive in easily, removed carb cover, filter filthy w/fine mulch particles, cleaned that w/golf tee, each fold, brush didn't work, took carb cover screws off, hose off, carb fly stuck wide open, top mechanisms and connects filthy w/mulch, played w/worked mechanisms and connects into free play status. Reassembled started first pull.....again. Again thanks!

Thank you so much. I got the same mower and same problem. I will try to fix it. Didn’t know about the hidden jets.👌

I try to always use nitrile gloves for protection and eye protection is not a bad idea since that carb cleaner can really burn the eyes if spray gets in :).

Nice video. One suggestion is, it will be helpful, if you can list the tools and the spray you used. You mentioned the items you used while you are working in the video, but you are very fast (at least for me). Appreciate it.

Thats the only one he didn't take out, I did everything he did it starts n stall. He didn't take out little rubber jet. Maybe thats the problem.
@moxiemowers38512 жыл бұрын
@@mariobannano6592 most likely is poor gas or did not clean good enough the pilot jet would cause surging if dirty.

Thank you so much! Very helpful and a very nice video. You don’t happen to have an oil change video for the same mower do you?

I still use acid dip and ultra sonic cleaner, really takes both sometimes , Or just replace carb and keep old ones for parts

I’m only going to pull three times That’s should be the most to get it started, spark checker will tell me where to start
@TomBbenik4 ай бұрын
did you have to take the gas tank and puller off to get to the carb?
@coachjosephseahorn2853 Жыл бұрын
Good information , I did all of that and my mower still would not start. Could it be the ignition coil and have you ever had to replace one? maybe you can add that to your videos.

My Toro needed many pulls to start. Check the carb flap angle when cold. Mine was not closing enough, had to adjust the lil spring that was on top of the carb, not all carbs have this lil spring. But by reviewing the carbs flap you can see the problem. Perhaps warm up spring it the issue, see if you can adjust/lube something to get the carb to close more for cold starts. Actually it's all very similar to understand, so don't be afraid.😮

Great video , what is the name or link of the tool you used to clean the carburetor holes?
These are common tools for oxy-acetylene rigs and are easily found at any welding supply or hardware store.

As I watched this one part a few times, it looks like the emulsion tube was put in backwards, the thin end should go in first! Did anyone else see this! Or did my eyes decieve me? 😮

Figured it out, the E tube has a Rim on Both sides, that's what I forgot! I saw that rim and thus thought it was the fater end, 🙄.
