I love the idea of Adam clapping by himself in a theater full of bemused and bored “film critics”

Kinda tell you everything you need to know about their care for cinéma. They won't clap at a screening no matter how good the movie is, They'll do pointless standing-ovations for 20 minutes straight at bullshit-ceremonies because they need to fit. Theses peoples don't give a shit about cinéma or anything related to it unless it fills their pockets and reputations.

What I’m mostly happy about is that he didn’t resort to just saying it was good because Brendan was good. I’m getting the sense that many reviewers who like this movie will ignore Aronofsky and Sam Hunter’s contributions and will just say “Brendan was great/carried by him/wouldn’t work at all without him” Which does a disservice to the other people who worked on the film.

I'm a huge Bowie fan and I left the theater thinking basically the same thing about Moonage Daydream. Bowie's music from the 90s and early 2000s is criminally underrated and often ignored, I was so excited when this movie acknowledged that the 90s was when he stopped being commercial and went back to creating music as art. But then they only played ONE song from 1995, skipped over literally 20 years of incredible music, brought up 2016's Blackstar and then... dead. I started off loving the movie and I left feeling a little insulted.

@@dudestep The first season starts off rocky (Didn't see myself sticking with it either at the time), but sticking with it has a lot of payoff character growth wise. For Fablemans, they did use those actual cameras, you forget that film is SUPER high quality, and if the film was projected after it was shot it would have minimal scratches and damage. Seth Rogan gifts him a bolex, that’s the same camera I learned to shoot 16mm on in college only 4 yrs ago, they’re still amazing cameras If you read the credits it says “shot on 35mm/16mm/Super 8” if it looks fake it’s a post-production issue

As someone who's absolutely obsessed with Bowie, i agreed with most of your criticisms. It seems to me that the director wanted the movie to be something of a personal reflection of his view of Bowie, so it kinda feels like someone showing you what they like and ignoring/glossing over the other less well known stuff. Some of my favourite albums of him are from the 90s/2K periods, which made me kinda disappointed when I didn't see that. My favourite album was barely mentioned and Blackstar was kind of a through line during the movie, but needed more coverage for sure. I think also that it would be pretty hard to give enough time to his almost 50 years of career without making a VERY long movie. I think Morgen had to choose what to show and his bias shows, but that makes it more personal and kinda more unique in my opinion. Also the part where he talks about Iman almost made me break down it was so beautiful pls

Not to be annoying, but because you seem like someone who makes an active effort to pronounce names as they’d be pronounced by the person themselves, the “HL” in Icelandic is pronounced closer to a “KL” than what you here. guessing Adam doesn't know that the pipeline movie is based on an actual manifesto by the same title about environmentalism. Good to get perspective of someone going in fresh, but also seems important to have context.

I really liked Moonage Daydream as someone who only recently started listening to Bowie's music. Would have loved to see it in an IMAX setting. I do completely agree about it feeling unbalanced in showing different eras of his career, but I guess that didn't bug me as much since I was mostly watching it to just discover more of his music.

I can't wait to see The Whale. I am usually not one for following on any hype trains, but with everything that had happened to Brendan Fraser I just want to see him do well. I really think that Darren Aronofsky is the type of filmmaker who has the empathy for that.

Just saw Triangle of Sadness, never felt sicker from a movie and that’s a complete. All the throwing up had already given me the icky feeling in my stomach so seeing how Abigail had manipulated and coerced Carl made me feel genuinely sick. Also every scene with woody harrelson and the king of shit made the whole experience worth it. v well done 👍

The thing Adum doesn’t realize about Spielberg and THE FABLEMENS is that Spielberg is a hokey old-school sentimental guy. I loved THE FABLEMENS because I believed every moment of it. Not in it’s realize but in its emotion. And if you ask Steven he’d giggle and just talk about how much he loved the energy of that movie. Idk. I get what Adum is saying, but the movie isn’t going for realism of action but of emotion. And the scene he cites about the “needs to be real” is way overblown. And makes sense in context especially when considering what the types of movies Sam Fablemans is aping from.

Wendell and wild really made me sad, cause I could relate to the fostercare type aspect, but idk, it felt like it was suppose to be darker, but was insisting its a baby movie at the same time, despte having some heavy ideas in it? It felt cowardly to me, I wanted more out of it and felt disappointed. I really wanted to connect to kat and have them dive into her more.

Hey Adam, that show The Kingdom really made me think of David Lynches Twin Peaks where it was sort of a parody of Soap Operas and it was pretty crazy. Then I looked it up and it turns out the show is inspired by twin peaks.

Am I the only one on the planet who thinks Glass Onion was really not good? I mean, REALLY not good. And I liked Knives Out, too. I don't know what it is. Everything in it just seemed either too predictable or too convoluted, seemed like the cast phoned it in, and seemed like the script was a rough draft. I guess that's maybe why it came off as "less compelling" to Adum. I don't know. Is it just me?

I feel like with the son they could've made an effort to add the feeling of "the invisible audience" - which is something a lot of teens feel, the sensation of everyone watching and judging them which can feed into anxiety and depression. I feel like there could be lots of small changes added to evoke that feeling of being a teenager.

It really isn't about being "unusually harsh" the movie is legit a generic cookie cutter self inflating boring experience and he's just being honest instead of hyping it up just bec spielberg made it like other critics. Everything you can think of in a coming-of-age movie is present in the movie as well even though the movie tries to convince you that it's infact personal and unique lmao.
