Toronto Maple Leafs keep season alive as Joseph Woll & Matthews Knies step up to play hero

The Toronto Maple Leafs will live to fight another day as they find a way to stave off elimination. Mike DiStefano and David Morassutti give their thoughts on the Leafs stepping up to get the big win in Game 5 with Joseph Woll giving a boost with his performance in goal and the team putting a stamp on the game right off the hop. Mike and Dave move on to the 3 Stars of the Game looking at how Max Domi and John Tavares stepped up at centre, Matthew Knies getting himself in the right spot for the overtime winner but also had a memorable moment in the game with David Pastrnak. They also look closely at how Woll showed why he was the right choice in goal and how he brings an element the team has been needing. Resign Domi, 4 million per × 5yrs Can play center or wing on the first, second, or third line with a bit of jam, and is a great passer. He's a perfect compliment for Matthew's, he don't mind going to the greasy area's and digging the puck out, unlike one other player we all know, to set Matthew's up. Just what they need on that line. And Knies with his speed and strength going to the net looked good on JT's line tonight.

In the 100 year history of the Boston Bruins, 2 shots is the fewest they have ever had in a period of hockey. Over 7,500 games. Just wanted to throw that out there. The Leafs really shut them down. That is how you play hockey in the playoffs. 2-1 win. That is how you win in the playoffs. It should have been 1-0 but the Bruins got unbelievably lucky. Half a second either way on that bad bounce and Fredrick doesn't score. Speaking of him. Remember when he was jawing at Matthews and Matthews looked on his back to see who he was? Lose in 7 was my prediction. Let's see how they look in game six. I may revise it. The Leafs play just fine without Matthews, they have a lopsided winning record without him. Without Marner they struggle. Woll was definitely great, but goalies have to be great for their teams to go anywhere in the playoffs. They came out right off the hop. They tend to come out strong when Mathews is out and Marner is the guy. They tend to come out soft when Matthews is the guy. It is what it is. Marchand took his usual dive and then realized it was the ref who touched him and not a Leaf. I think the penalties he got were strongly linked to him jerking the ref around. The top line shouldn't be touched at all, I don't think they should touch the top 6 as long as they play like this. If Matthews returns, he won't be anywhere near 100%, start him on the third and give him easy matchups and see how it goes. Nylander. I am very critical of him but he had a great game. He spent a lot of time against Pastrnak and Pastrnak was a complete non-factor in the game. If he could play like that regularly I would love him.

I am here once again begging you to stop doing Radio Breaks and reintroducing yourself after every commercial, it makes no sense for this format and we already have to FastForward past a minimum of 3 commercial breaks in a 30 min episode, It is excruciating having to scroll past your introductions every commercial break on top of that.
