It's public transit observing time! Compared to your video at Davisville station, the TR's you rode on were using the caution tape as opposed to sticking signs on the seats. The hallway you walked from 5:50 to 7:25 used to have a travelator back then. This is further backed up with the wording on the wall saying "please hold handrail" at 5:56. The brighter tiles on the floor indicate where it used to be. Lastly, Spadina station has stickers along the platform for social distancing measures. It's not present at Dupont station though, so I suppose this is something that the TTC is gradually implementing in each station. I'm starting to notice that whenever you enter a station, the train arrives within a minute or two lol. This is just me, but I find it relaxing listening to the background noises, especially the trains. You even managed to catch the PA testing at Spadina station which I find a little hilarious. This is just a suggestion, but have you walked along the Beltline trail yet? I recently found out it's quite a distance and it blew my mind how it connects to other streets. I hope you read this entire comment. I have a habit where I tend to type lots of words. XD

Some more excellent observations! I guess the cost of maintaining the travelator was too much? I remember transferring through here a number of times when it was still there and half the time it wasn't even operating. Perhaps an airport-grade one would hold up a lot better? It's hard not to notice the tiling where it used to be. I didn't notice the lack of stickers at Dupont... I don't think it's a high volume station so they probably did the others first? There is something calming about the TTC noises, and I smiled when I heard that test knowing I was recording since it's quite rare. As for the trains arriving when I get there... while I have great luck on my regular walking videos, on these transit ones it's by design. I take note of when the next train is rolling in and start the video so it will be arriving as I get down to the platform. I've done one video on just part of the beltline trail so far... kzbin.info/www/bejne/a3nSmKKfn9x6l6c Thanks for the comment!

Thanks again Johnny Strides. I like the way how new cars are made. They are thinking about getting the opened subway cars in New York City.
@JohnnyStrides4 жыл бұрын
That would great for NYC if they did that. I much prefer the open-ended cars.

Nice thanks for the tour at least I see where you can get a street car I am just fascinated by them dont know why🤷♀️can't wait to ride one thanks for sharing 🤗💓🤗

Streetcar rides are pretty neat and somewhat unique. The older cars have more character (but less AC) but either way it's something to experience :)

Thursday at 6:30PM, you would normally still have the backwash from Rush Hour milling around. Not too crowded, but busy and bustling.This looks more like a late night Sunday. I'm working from home, so I haven't been on the subway since this started.
@JohnnyStrides4 жыл бұрын
Indeed... I've been working from home too. I wish the subways are this quiet when it's time to start going back to the office...

Good point, the train rolled in as I got there... I often start and end my regular walks in subway stations so the next time I'm in Dupont I'll be sure to not miss it!

In NY subways, we have the enclosed trash bins, I prefer those to the plastic where u can see everything inside but everyplace is different
@JohnnyStrides4 жыл бұрын
I prefer enclosed too but I think the open ones are probably more hygienic? We have foot pedal operated ones on the streets but they're often jammed and it's hard not to touch the lids/bin itself when depositing trash.
@arrjay24104 жыл бұрын
The open trash bins in the Toronto subway are a post 911 thing. The previous ones were heavy reinforced concrete (Probably to discourage people from picking them up and throwing them around). There was concern that if a bomb was put in one it turn the concrete into shrapnel, thus the switched to the open metal frames.

From the Spadina station you should've taken a street car down south to Dundas and buy a $2 banh-mi sandwich at Banh Mi Nguyen Huong
@JohnnyStrides4 жыл бұрын
I just finished recording a walk and was starving. Ironically I picked up a Banh-Mi on my way home though lol
