Toronto Police Chief requests OPP review following concerns of officer collusion

The scare and terror that family must have felt on that night, being apprehended by strangers running at your vehicle!! Even thinking about it my heart is racing so bad. I dealt with police in my 20s on 2 sperate incidents as a witness. Both times they really tried so hard to get me to confirm something that did not happen. They were so muniplative and intimidating with their tactics I was almost gonna give in to their story. I'm so glad I stood for what was right. They jailed a 20 year for 4 months over accusations and tried to pressure witnesses to lie. I believe they jailed him becuase he.was monthy with them after a bar fight. They took it personal and tried to destroy his life. That experience changed the way I see cops

There needs to be an inquiry into this! What the police and the Crown did to this poor man and his family is ridiculous! Bad tactics lead to bad outcomes! They were dressed in shorts and street clothes and no one would have taken them to be police! The video showed the two white vehicles in the underground drove through gates to get out of there! They sure didn't think it was police. The physical evidence and video supported the Zameer's version of events! That the plainclothes people were pounding on their vehicle and windows! They were yelling. The van that blocked them in was unmarked and had no lights or siren. I do not believe police are outright lying. This is more likely the adage that eye witnesses aren't that reliable and are often biased particularly in this case where they share responsibility for this death by their tactics. Police always want the benefit of the doubt in stressful quick passed events where things went wrong. Why didn't this man get that benefit! There was no mens rea here! It was a mistake!

The Zameer case has brought to light the fact that the Police are "found wanting", and hopefully profound changes in Police procedures may be put in place, one day. Let’s not forget that Lisa Forbes (or Lisa Hayford or whatever name she goes by after being exposed years ago) was found guilty of misconduct for the $20k that went missing when Ryan Russel’s fundraiser was held following his passing. Let’s also not forget that Scharnil Pais was one of the officers in 2011 who was found guilty of beating and pulling firearms on them innocent teens on Neptune Dr. Also caught on video. The real question here is why are these 2 people officers in 2024 ? A better question is if they were not involved would the officer who lost his life in the garage still be with us today? Other than Umar Zameer, How many other people have they lied about who are locked up as we speak ? Are those cases being reexamined by officers who actually follow the law ?
