At this point any building that's more then 50 years old should be a heritage property we are losing so much historic architecture due to overpriced condo developments this city is starting to become an dystopian hellhole
@jordanharkness11 ай бұрын
If they make this a Heritage Building, then I fully expect the government to cough up funding / grant to produce a Heritage Minute short film on it.

I agree with keeping the building as a heritage building. We need to start preserving our historic buildings. Who knows, a 100 years from now it could be something else, but the building will still be there as a historical landmark in Toronto.

I will always remember it as a place where I met up with some friends from Montreal during a lonely part of my life working 2 months in Toronto. It took away some sadness for a while.
@RebeccaBredin11 ай бұрын
If you took the billboards off it would be a historic looking building. That’s what they’re recognizing. But I agree that we shouldn’t be tearing down the science centre or anything either. I also find it interesting that all the men are looking down on the building and the women are all for protecting it. Are they ashamed of it, or do they think it’s a lesser establishment because of the way the (primarily female) staff are viewed and treated?

Was a dinner night club with big bands in the 60's. Saw Lionel Hampton there. Good luck though with that. Developers have a lot of money and lawyers. And the current owners need to be compensated. I'm all for it. A piece of Toronto well worth preserving. Typical of old Yonge street, like the Pantage theatre.
@Megafoot216411 ай бұрын
Please , if the former buildings at Yonge & Bloor weren't protected and designated but the Brass Rail is, does anyone else think the process is bass ackwards ? The Planetarium got sold off, Ontario Place or any place of true value and entertainment is gutted. But the Brass Rail means something to city hall ? Is it any wonder Toronto faces the problems it continually does ? Wisdom is a rare thing to find in any politician. 0_o

Sid is so mentally behind the times. When talking about the Brass Rail being a heritage property , they are talking about the building being built in the 1800's , not it's current use. I sometimes wonder when listening to Sid's phobias & lack of people skills , how he ever ended up on Breakfast Television. He lives in a box.

Why is it stupid and inappropriate? Even if you don’t agree with what happens in there, it’s still a piece of history. And honestly, more people have stories from Brass Rail that will bring memories of Toronto than a building that someone once lived in and never came back to.
@Godsgraceish6 ай бұрын
@@RebeccaBredinthink about how women have been exploited, mistreated and mishandled there. That’s what you would be preserving, and yes the city is discussing making the STRIPE club a heritage building not just the building
