Toronto Streetcar Compilation

This was taken on several days these past 2 months. I took the videos in as many diverse places as i could find such as underground queens quay, harbourfront, exhibition loop, King street and much more. The system has only one type of streetcar called the bombardier flexity outlook. I personally really like them however I think it would have been better if they kept the CLRVs (the old ones) in service for longer. Enjoy :)

Streetcars...the most expensive, least efficient, most disruptive, least flexible, and noisiest mode of public transportation ever invented.

Probably won't change your mind but, Streetcars are overall cheaper to run because passengers moved per operator is higher than a bus, a good example, The TTC needs 3 busses and 3 drivers to replace 1 streetcar, Least flexible well I mean yea, As for the noise, they really aren't that loud, you can barely hear them most of the time over the sounds going on around the street, certianly quieter than a bus.

Technically the least flexible mode of transit is a subway, but that would be a terrible reason to not build subways just because they aren’t super flexible. You gotta build them to be reliable over flexible

streetcars in mixed traffic was invented before cars, hence it enjoyed sharing streets with pedestrians and a low flow of horse carts, the thing that screwed streetcars up isn't its own design, its allowing automobiles to take over your streets. Streetcars may no longer be suited for our day, but giving LRTs Rights of Ways separated from cars still make them a good option
