360-liposuction, BBL, Mommy make-over, tummy tuck mini to extended, and extra skin removal Post-Op best to receive Lymphatic Drainage Therapy (LDT), NOT Massage, is best to receive, because it’s targeting the Lymphatic System which is also our immune system therefore healing and recovery is shorter. After fluid retention is drained, maybe on 2-3 session, scar tissues/fibrosis will be easier to palpate by the massage therapist, and MFR skin rolling is then applied to break up the thickness of the connective tissue when the body repairs to close from surgeon’s cannula tool. MFR skin rolling, cupping therapy, very light pressure, and LDT directing to drain towards the major lymph nodes (but the beginning of the session to open thoracic ducts to help Lymphatic System drain back into the subclavian vein). Being aggressive on the 1-2 session and putting too much pressure Lymphatic System will not respond well. Imagine squeezing a straw and try to siphon liquid, and liquid won’t go through and it’s stuck. Well the same as the Lymphatic System.

There is no mention of manual lymphatic drainage techniques to address swelling and inflammation. Starting regular massage in the first 2 weeks at a "half inch to inch depth" can cause more inflammation and swelling, eventually leading to overproduction of scar tissue and fibrosis. Before and after performing the massage techniques in the video, it is imperative to perform lymphatic drainage techniques so the fluid has somewhere to go. Patients tend to push too hard with tools so I personally never recommend them using tools such as a roller in the first few weeks after surgery, especially over bony prominences such as the ribs as it can lead to bruising.

As someone who is certified in MLD and PostOp care, I gave myself a headache shaking my head in disbelief of some of the stuff being said in this and many other videos. All of.this stuff they brought back up from unregulated countries in South America is why so many are in pain and get fibrosis. Too many are are starting their treatments too early. Using tools that they shouldn't. Removing garments before their surgeons say to. And some removing drains and aspirating blood and fluids out of incisions. This industry is turning out to be a hot mess. Too many voices saying the wrong things are going unchecked...

@MassageAndLymphaticTherapist Жыл бұрын
@@kywong8053 if it is true MLD (manual lymphatic drainage) you can start right away. Doctors are cautious with massage, and some don’t understand the difference, because they don’t want you to go to a massage therapist who will do anything deep and make things worse. Videos like this make doctos think that massage therapists do deep massage after surgery.

Is it ideal to use the coconut oil with lymphatic massages that takes place within the first few days after lipo? If skin incisions are open or not healed will the oil irritate? If oil is not to be used, what is recommended for massages with fresh incisions?
@sixsurgery4 жыл бұрын
Use Organic Coconut oil when massaging, even in the beginning. If incisions aren’t closed yet, you should be avoiding any pull in that area anyway, so you shouldn’t be massaging so close to them that the oil is getting inside the incision. The skin is so dry and brittle after surgery that it is quickly absorbed at the site of application, so there shouldn’t be a concern of it dripping into incision either.

@sixsurgery4 жыл бұрын
At our clinic, we tell our patients that lipo massage will most likely be painful. It's not your typical massage unfortunately! The skin is tender and sensitive right after lipo but it's crucial to massage asap to prevent lumps and bumps and maintain your results. That being said, if you have any concerns about pain levels etc, always ask your health care provider.

Also the massage team that works with the facility said the same. Then others say it shouldn't be painful at all! But think about it.... they just sucked out fat from under your skin!!! It's tender and raw, and ANY touch hurts like a dear life!!! So I'm more inclined to agree that while I wish it didn't hurt, common sense says it sure DOES! And! Because I was struggling so much with painful massages and delayed at first, now I have bumps and the lipo was not even. I want to go back and have it corrected but the thought of the pain. I'd rather stay as is.. it's worst pain I've ever ever had in my life!!!

@@janjoy9759 I am so sorry you went through that; though unfortunately it is not uncommon. Liposuction is very traumatic to the body and they were not trained in lymphatic drainage or post-operative care; they need to understand wound healing and physiology. If someone has a swollen foot, would you squeeze it and try to "force" the fluid out? No; it is the same after liposuction. You need to work with the body's physiology and lymphatic system to encourage healing. After a couple weeks, they can work on the scar tissue but not to the point of you being in extreme pain. I'd encourage you to find a therapist certified in lymphatic and fibrosis techniques. These are 2 great resources: www.youtube.com/@KathleenHelenLisson www.youtube.com/@CancerRehabPT

You want to use a moisturizer but avoid the areas of incision. It will compromise the integrity of the skin while the wound is healing.

The skin is so dry and brittle after surgery that it is quickly absorbed at the site of application, so there shouldn’t be a concern of it dripping into the incision either. But organic coconut oil is much thicker and you should not be applying so much that it is soaking your incisions. Also, coconut oil is used because it is one of the more hypoallergenic products and provides a natural source of moisture :)

I wish I had a more responsible surgeon. He did an amazing job at the surgery, but after care was SHIT. Left me alone to not know what or how to go from there.

I am a lymphatic drainage specialist. You want to try and massage and do the flush that she did and then use your hands to go in a circle around your navel. Also massage with the palm of your hands in a sweeping motion going down from your bra line to your incisions. If you were close I would have you come to me and I would take care of it and get rid of it!
@kelsir41844 жыл бұрын
I picked up a Wahl massager from Walmart today. I set it to the lowest settings, laid on my back, put up my feet, and worked a similar path as my lymphatic massage therapist. It made me pee and loosened the hard spots on my stomach. I still see the therapist weekly. Hope this helps.

How often can I self massage with muscle roller or hand massage?
@sixsurgery4 жыл бұрын
You should be massaging as often as possible. Minimum 5 times per day. For 10-15 mins each time. Massage will be longer in length for patients who had larger amounts of Lipo done. The muscle roller can be used the same amount, but it is only beneficial over the ribcage area and throughout the flanks.

@@daijahudson3423 It's better to pay someone to do it. The pressure is specific depending on each area, as well as where you are at in your healing process. With Kind Regards: Please consider sending your Massage Therapist to a Manual Lymphatic Drainage course or a Complete Lymphedema Therapy course so she can better understand the Anatomy of the Lymphatic System and appropriate Manual Lymph Drainage techniques. Increasing the blood circulation with deep massage and heat can actually inhibit the movement of lymph fluid by changing the permeability of the lymph and blood vessels/ this is not good post cosmetic surgery. For those that are on here for educational purposes please do not use heat right after any cosmetic surgery your sensation is diminished and you could potentially burn your skin and most importantly Ensure you do your own extensive research on Manual Lymphatic Drainage Post Cosmetic Surgery!!
@sixsurgery4 жыл бұрын
Yes, heat is definitely a negative early on, and any patient that we have seen would have this information provided to them. It is not recommended until 3-4 weeks post-op as heat actually promotes inflammation and in the early stages of recovery, we are simply focused on reducing any swelling and inflammation in the treated areas. It is also crucial that patients seek professional massage therapy after their surgery, as only the provider assessing them, would be able to manage the decision of risk vs reward in difficult cases with fibrosis appearing very early on from improper compression or aftercare. Please note that this video was made specifically for home care during the pandemic where elective surgery had been cancelled, with the patient in mind who is 4-6 weeks out of surgery already.

You should start massaging almost immediately after lipo (as long as there was not an abdominoplasty as well) and continue to massage for several months after.
@rosamar52284 жыл бұрын
Getting massage next day after surgery will help to stimulate circulation of the blood and lymph fluid,I also suggested every day for 10 days. That is 10 sessions of 1hour each. At the end of the 10 sessions and the 10 days you will feel great.

Hi how long after a abdominoplasty and liposuction should you start massaging? Also do you massage on top of garment/binder or take it off?
@sixsurgery4 жыл бұрын
DO NOT massage after a tummy tuck until at least after 4 weeks time. You can apply gentle massage over your garment before then, to stimulate circulation, but don’t touch or apply a pull at the incision site or in your abdomen if you have had muscle repair. Massage is okay throughout the flanks, sides and bra-line areas immediately after surgery, just do not touch the abdomen until the 4 week mark.
