I'm gonna need whoever approved this video to do two things immediately. First, give whoever had this idea a raise. Second, approve another one. This is amazing content. Like Simmer said, there are no bad questions. Just talking about stuff like this is a massive step forward. Hockey needs to let down the walls and show everyone that their players are just people like everyone else. I'd love to see a series of these, some focused on tough issues like perhaps the Kyle Beach situation, sexual assault and the toxic masculinity that hides it in hockey, but then also some more light hearted ones, just focused on sharing cultural/favourite foods and telling stories. Either way, this was extremely well done, and kudos to the boys for being open to participate and open up like they did. p.s. who knew Mark Fraser was such an eloquent and thoughtful guy? Awesome surprise, and he did a wonderful job hosting this.

I loved EVERY second of this. A conversation that needs to be had and Fraser is a perfect host. He’s so easy going and as a player I think every leaf fan loved this guy. So proud of Auston, Jack and Jason for educating themselves and being so open and willing to discuss tough subjects. It makes me irate to think about Simmer getting anything but respect but like the boys said, we have a long way to go. I can’t wait for the next episode!! Go Leafs go!!!

This was absolutely phenomenal. I’m a white guy, Toronto born and raised, life long suffering Leafs fan, and huge lover of Jamaican cuisine. One of the best things about living in/near Toronto, is how spoiled we are in terms of our multicultural food options. This was fantastic. Good food can be the bridge to many amazing memories. Great work to all involved

Same here brother, born and raised just outside of the city. I'm in the city all the time for work or leisure... and man do I wish we could trade in some street meat carts for a couple patty stalls eh? Nothing wrong with a dog, but a good Jamaican patty after you've had a few drinks is like the food of the gods haha

Sis feel the same. Brought tears to my eyes. Like simmer said, us blacks had to sensor oursself. Coworkers making fun of my food , the way I dress . The leafs are an amazing team and organization. They are bridging the gap. One eye opening experience was at the height of the pandemic, when the leafs brought a barber in for the white players but forgot simmer hair is different. The leafs took ownership and rectified it. We are lucky to have dubas as a GM . LEAFS FOREVER ❤❤❤❤

I was glued to my computer watching this and I hope there's more to come. Some great athlete's not on the ice but hanging out. Every one of these guys comes across as 100% authentic and that's what makes the video stand out. The other stuff like getting two guys in a room and playing a sort of trivia game shows us the guys as they are off the ice. Love it , love it , love it !

I'd like to see one of these segments between the international players on the team describing their experiences, similarities and culture-shocks from the European hockey leagues and the NHL. This, though, was a genius idea. Very open, informative, and a great setting as well by using food as the centre point of everything. I NEED one of these again!

Rum cake has to be the best surprise I never knew I was missing. You can never go wrong when you experience different cultures & customs other than your own, and food is the perfect way to bring people together. Simmer is an absolute delight to have as a Maple Leaf. He brings a veteran presence, he's a leader and an ambassdor for his culture. Please do more of these videos Wayne Train.

Grew up around the corner from Albert’s, a true gem. Unfortunately we are at risk of losing a lot of this great food/culture in TO. Particularly around Eglinton and Oakwood where the pandemic and years of LRT construction has completely screwed over business owners. One example in the news recently is Randy’s Patties, another staple of the neighbourhood. Great video, great format, look forward to seeing more.

Toronto is a diversely cultured City! We have China Town, Greek Town, Little India and more! We are so lucky to live in this City. For The Toronto Maple Leaf’s, they have seen the nationalities of their team members change through the years. After Mark Fraser, Wayne Simmond’s is the first black player since Mark’s term ended in 2013/2014, together these guys are being positive role models and proactive in their fight against racism. It is nice to see their teammates enjoy a meal from a different culture and enjoy it. I hope that there are more videos like this. Great video. Top guys in that room, too. As a black hockey player, does Wayne also see the diversity in the league? Surely Austin would have had to show resilience as a young Mexican from Arizona? Or the more recent rise of the Asian players? In today's political climate I imagine the Russian players would also be feeling a sense of condemnation? Tough stuff. But as long as you guys are talking and understanding of the individuals on your team and work together as a collective team, it makes the world a better place.
