19:00 When I was in the Navy, the boomer crews weren't allowed to have their ship's names on their uniforms like the rest of us when they went on shore leave. That way people could figure out that *a* boomer was in port... but not *which* boomer. Now they're announcing it? Pretty crazy.

If the medicine affect you, you need to ask the doctor to adjust it. Quite often with that type of medicine, they need to be adjusted, for every individually person

As an active duty Navy clinical psychologist, a diagnosis and medical treatment is not necessarily disqualifying for most clearances, even high level clearances. Meds should make you feel like best version of you, otherwise consider a different med, most psychiatric meds need to be taken daily to work correctly, doing otherwise will not work well.

@@BigTArmada nope, I have done lots of these types of evaluations, it comes down to two things from the psychologist recommendation. First, is the service member trustworthy (and a prior good history of protecting sensitive information) and second do I sleep better at night knowing that this person is using the clearance to contribute to our defense. I don't care about connections, nor would the bulk of my colleagues.

*Aaron* - some antidepressants are not ideal for all people. Talk to your Doc and try a different one. I went through 3 different types before finding the right one for me and it could easily be much the same for you. Lethargy was one of the side efects of 2 of them so my doc just changed me to another until we found the right one.

1) Dude, if your medication is screwing you up, you need to talk to your doctor and figure out a different plan. Therapy's pointless if you aren't gonna do it. 2) AFA your job, you don't need a clearance to work in your field. You can have (for example) CCI and do a different job. It's the same deal in my shop. They pushed me for years to get my clearance and I told them no because #1 I didn't want the Feds crawling up my a-hole with a magnifying glass and #2 I knew they'd just say no anyway. I'm not out of a job and still work in the same shop doing the same thing, there's just certain duties I'm not allowed to perform. finally 3) While I don't have and don't want a clearance, I'm still very passionate about security because I understand how much of a disaster it would be if secrets fell into the wrong hands. You have something going on that you think might disqualify you for a clearance and you've just announced that fact to the world. This makes you vulnerable to compromise. Somebody might try to blackmail you. You'd better tell somebody about this on Monday because even if nothing happens there are criminal consequences for this sort of violation. Let security make the decision and take on that liability.

33:27 I was on the Teddy Roosevelt when it was on the East coast. TR and another carrier switched home ports (east and west) after I left. All personnel on both ships got to keep their own home port (east coasters PCS'd to the other carrier when it made it to the east coast, west to west) ... except Reactor Department. Every reactor plant is different so all the nukes had to uproot their families to go to the other coast to stay with the TR. And same for the other carrier, except to the east coast.

Yeah Aron I went through a dozen different meds before I found the Amen clinic’s. Everything has side effects except the Dr Amen stuff. I do that now it’s much better 😊

Did you try any Bose headsets while you were in the Navy? Sony and Bose typically are the clearest that I have found. Bose were the clearest out of all of the brands that I tried, but they unfortunately gained that clean sound by sacrificing bass and as such, their bass wasn't very good. I have a pair of Bose wired earbuds which are amazing but also suffer from poor bass.

Taper off dosage if you stop the meds. Cold stop can cause bad reactions on some drugs

NEVER quit cold turkey. My doc took me off Lyrica cold turkey, and that’s a huge no-no. Felt like I was dying. I feel much better not taking anything at all, absolutely NO pharmaceuticals that alter brain chemistry. Gym/exercise has been the best medicine for me.
